The Rydoshan 31st Imperial Guard-
Also known as the Rydoshan Cave Wyrgs, or Dukes Renegades
Planet: Rydosha
Type: Desert, Jungle
Population: 6.5 billion humans
Military: Rydoshan Planetary Defense Force
The Planet of Rydosha was a planet of under-advanced cave dwelling humans brought to compliance near the end of the Great Crusade. Rydosha is prominently covered in vast deserts and jungles, where the days are hot and nights are cold. However, not all of the planet is this way. Near the poles of the planet there is a great many deciduous forests and lakes. This region is inhabited by the nobles of the planet, and is where the capital city is located. The Rydoshans that do not live in the capital cities have to take shelter at night either in the many caves throughout the Rydoshan desert, or in makeshift jungle villages. Under the surface of the planet, there is a network of caves and tunnels populated by the middle class humans of the planet. This cave network is a hive big enough to rival the size of the smaller hives on Terra. Every night, the new recruits of the Rydoshan PDF must block the entrances to the hive so that they are not overrun by the marauding Evil Sunz orks that live on the planet's surface.
The military force of Rydosha is one of the best non-Astartes fighting forces in the galaxy, if only the Imperium officials knew about it. The standard uniform for Rydoshan guardsmen is brown with camouflage green stripes running along it. This uniform was made to imitate one of the natural predators of Rydosha, the dreaded Cave Wyrg. It is considered a rite of passage among the Rydoshan guardsman to slay one of these beasts and bring back it's skin and skull. While new recruits are given a full body suit, more veteran members will be seen sleeveless, or without chest armor or helmets. This is because over the years the veterans will strip down their armor to be more mobile and less hot under the harsh Rydoshan sun and damp jungles. Because of this, new recruits are called "longsleeves". In addition, the primary armament of the Rydoshan PDF is the Mk. 4 lascarbine. Also carried by the jungle fighters of Catachan, it is a stripped down version of the Cadian lasgun.
The Orks of the Evil Sunz clan are a constant threat to the people of Rydosha, and every guardsmen of it's PDF and regiments are expert ork hunters. Through the might of the Rydoshan Imperial Guard, thousands of Orks are repelled every day from entering main imperium space. Rydosha is so remote that up until recently, the Inquisition had little knowledge of it's existence. Lately, though, the Inquisition have discovered Rydosha and disapprove of some of it's unorthodox methods of war. However, Rydoshans care little for authority other than the Emperor and many foreign Comissars and Junior Inquisitiors despatched to the planet have mysteriously "disappeared". The only military general trusted by the Rydoshans is Colonel "Duke" Bower. Because of this, the Rydoshan PDF and Rydoshan regiments are often joked at and called "Dukes Renegades" by Terran officials. However, there is no doubt among the regiments of the Imperial Guard that the Rydoshan 31st is the regiment that gets the job done.

Gathering Your Forces-
A guide to painting and collecting Rydoshans.
Rydoshans are very rag-tag, and as such their armor is not the same on each trooper. I used a mix of Catachan and Cadian models for my army. Cadian Shock Troopers are good to represent "Longsleeves",(infantry squads or conscripts), while Catachans are good for representing the grizzled Veterans. Tank commanders are almost always added to tanks and they should be in a dynamic pose.
All armor, gun casings and cloth are painted Bestial Brown, with a Chaos Black or Devlan Mud wash. Then the stripes are added on with first a layer of Catachan Green and a highlight of Snot Green. All metal is painted Boltgun Metal with a Devlan Mud wash. Skin is best done with Tallarn Flesh and Elf Flesh highlights, though I do paint some of my troopers to resemble African-Americans. The overall Rydoshan paint scheme is best done with brown primer, which means you won't to drybrush the brown over black primer or undercoat them brown by hand.
Codex Limitations-
You may pick any units from Codex: Imperial Guard or (with your opponents permission) Codex: Catachans, except for these:
Lord Commissars- All except a local few Commissars (like Reeve) are killed once they start nosing around and giving orders.
Heavy Weapon Teams with Mortars or Basilisks and any Basilisk varients (Medusa, Colossus, etc.) - Rydoshans have little in the way of long range artillery
Hellhound variants (Bane Wolf, Devil Dog)- Rydoshans love flame weapons and have Hellhounds, but don't have the necessary technology to build Chem-Cannons and Melta-Cannons
Commander Chenkov, Captain Al'Rahem, and Lukas Bastonne- These heroes are too busy with their own regiments and probably wouldn't even be accepted among the Rydoshans
Rydoshan Army Special Rules-
Rydoshan Veterans- A Rydoshan Guard army must have at least 2 squads of Veterans in it.
Colonel Duke Bower- At least one Company Command Squad in your army must contain Colonel Duke, meaning your company commander must be equipped with a Power Fist (the Fist of Justice) and Plasma Pistol
Commissar Vladimier Reeve- At one of the Commissars in your army must be Commissar Reeve, meaning he must be equipped with a Power Sword (Penitence) and Bolt Pistol
Flame Fighters- All Platoon Command Squads, units of Veterans, and Infantry squads must take at least one flamer or heavy flamer.
