So i was hanging out with a friend last night who use to be an avid poker player, no joke dudebro was kinda crazy about his poker . We were hangin out in his garage and I see one of his old world series tables, now if your familer with the world series of poker or any casino table like it they are massive. Anywho getting to the point, he told me i could have it to convert into a warhammer gaming table.

The table being 9x4 I have enough room to pretty much do what ever I want with it gaming wise other than Apoc games, I'm thinking about marking it off to 6x4 and doing a city of death theme, but mocking up my home town of downtown Clearwater FL seeing that that city is slowly dying due to reasons I probly shouldn't say .

I was just seeing if anyone had any ideas on terrain plots, making buildings, pavement texture, or maybe even something cooler than the origional plans im going with. advice is always a + in my book so lay it on me.

Keep it and use it as a poker table, that (if I'm right) is probably a pretty valuable piece of furniture.

Make your own gaming table from scratch, they're pretty easy to do and don't need to be nearly as "nice"/finished.

Best part about making your own is the ability to make it collapseable, customized/etc to fit what you need. Whats your goal? Table on display all the time, or a table that needs to be able to be taken down and stored easily?

If it’s the table I think it is I suggest getting another felt piece and keep it on top incase you wanted to use the table for poker or sell it off later.

Or if it fits you could get realm of battle boards or make your own to fit in the inside

Otherwise if your doing a city fight board. Lots of streets and lots of los blocking terrain are always cool.

Best site I have found for terrain related stuff, suggested for me by someone on this forum awhile back, terra genesis: http://www.terragenesis.co.uk/
Also check the gallery here at dakka and other sites for great inspiration.

I forgot all about the realm of battle boards lol they should fit in it no problem. As for the table though, it's not in any condition to sell but is still playable, so maybe i can throw a slab of wood over it just for gaming, and still have a good poker night! as for mobility I'm not to worried it's staying in the man cave, meaning the wife cant say anything.....,.

I second throwing a 4x8 sheet of plywood on top instead of destroying a perfectly usable poker table (assuming you or anyone you know plays poker).

Especially if it doesnt have to be portable!

I also second Terragenesis as a great source for terrain info. There are a lot of other great terrain building how-to's as well (just google what you're looking for and lots will come up, like "building 28mm houses" etc)

Im already addicted to terragenesis.com but i know i have a lot more interwebz to explore. I will be cutting some wood to fit over the felt so I can keep the leather cushion and cup holders. No dice are going fall off this bad boy.

find a means of building an insert for that poker table that converts it into a gaming table, without damaging it's interior. That way you can still use it for poker, or for other games.

My gaming buddy took his poker table and added a sheet of clear acrylic over top of the surface (keeping the padded sides and cup holders). This serves several purposes;

1) Protects the felt surface from anything you put on top of it
2) Protects maps/game boards for other games (placed underneath the acrylic sheet)

Ok, several = 2 in this case. hah. But a good investment nonetheless.

Then place your 40k tabletop onto that .. everything is protected from damages.
