Hello. I'm sort of new to this forum. I used to collect Warhammer when I was younger. I'd say I must have done that for some 8 years before I decided to stop. All the plastic and empty bank account made me feel bad lol.

It's been six years but recently I met this dude in a bar. We drank a few beers and I found out he had a Dark Eldar army. Suddenly my curiosity was spiked and the last couple of weeks I haven't been able to get the idea of building one last army out of my head. My thoughts immediately fell on Blood Angels: I remember seeing a picture in a gaming magazine of some 2nd edition Death Company fighting some Feral Orks. It think it was that image that brought me into Warhammer and I started collecting Blood Angels. Shortly after I grew tired of them and for unknown reasons I became involved with Warhammer Fantasy which I stuck with. Still, I've been told 40k is a lot more fun to play so I figured I'd give it a shot. Below is my planned army list for a Blood Angels strike force:

HQ:
The Sanguinor (275)

Librarian with jump pack (125)

Elites:
Chaplain with power fist and jump pack (140)

Sanguinary Priest with jump pack (75)

Troops:
10 Death Company with jump packs, 1 power fist (375)

Death Company Dreadnaught (125)

Drop Pod (35)

10 Assault Marines, 1 flamer (195)

10 Assault Marines, 1 meltagun (200)

10 Assault Marines, 1 meltagun (200)

5 Assault Marines (100)

Fast Attack:
5 Vanguard Veterans with jump packs (155)

The result is a nice, fast 2000 pts army able to pack quite a punch. Only worry I have is that 1 Sanguinary Priest is not enough. I could get rid of the 5 man Assault Squad and spend those points on another priest and an extra meltagun and/or plasma to have some extra firepower against tanks. What do you guys think?

I feel you need far more anti vehicle. meltaguns are the best for blood angles IMHO.

the vanguard vets and the 5 man strike squad both seem... out of place. they are small somewhat expensive and not very strong.
I would ditch them get the priests and some more melta guns and maybe.. get something in each assault squad that says... assault. I prefer power axes for the +2 str and ap2. but to each their own. I just dont see a lot of actual power.. Yes a lot of bodies for a marine army... but what happens if you face a marine army ... like say my blood angels who at 2k have 3 land raiders 2 preds and a dreadnaught?

droppign thos 2 small 5 mans would provide you the ability for more hitting power, and more endurance to your troops..

Also be weary of death company.. they get expensive fast and are still just marines... yeah a nice assault bonus on the charge but at 35 points per? you can field 2 marines who get the same amount of attacks on the charge when combined lol. I love the idea of a death company and will add a death company theme to my list however just for points cost they just are not as competitive as other codex choices.

Anything will die if you can stab it enough.

I'm not sure what you mean by power axes. According to the codex the BA Assault Marines don't have access to any. Sure I could equip the sergeants with some power weapons.

Otherwise I should invest more power in the DC.

What about a Predator? Should I add one for increased firepower?

When it says power weapon in the codex for upgrades you go off what the actual mosel is equiped with so for example if you pay the points for a power weapon and your actual model you play with has an axe then you would go with the power axe rules out of the 6th edition rule book

Alright but the Assault Marines still don't have access to any power weapons aside from the sergeant.

i was just answering the question about the power axe/sword thing buddy. i dont have my codex with me nor do i have it memorized just starting my BA army.
DCD- i would give it the blood talons for infantry killing i would drop the 5man assualt squad and 5 man vanguard and in vest in a stormraven with typhoon missle launcher, lascanoon and hurricane bolters for AA and Anti Tank. and you would still have a few extra points to get some PW for your sergants but not much. and you could drop the drop pod and just have the dreadnaught ride the stormraven in and you could put one of your assualt squads in it.

Interesting. The SR would definitely add some pure power to the army and be able to drop off my DCD. Yeah I plan on giving it blood talons but since they're free I didn't include them in the list.

so I should choose an SR over a pred?

10 Death Company with jump packs, 1 power fist (375)
Death Company Dreadnaught (125)
10 Assault Marines, 1 power weapon (205)

10 Assault Marines, 1 power weapon, 1 meltagun (215)

Had to drop a meltagun and take a flamer instead due to pts but I'll make up for that with the anti-tank stormraven

also how do you plan on coming in? even though our DOA rule is boss remember only half of your units may begin in reserves excluding drop pods and flyers
and with overwatch most generic troops will use rapid fire to full effect, id say at least bring one tac squad and drop the sanguinor for capt tycho and use some missle devastators with brother corbulo behind a aegis defence line.

The Sanguinor is good but he is a individual model like Mephiston and DC Captain tycho so he cant join any units and his weapon is only ap 3 meaning that you a 275 pt model by himself

Your first step should be going to a local shop and reading the 6th ed rule book that.....thing change a lot of rules related to the BA codex
