I vote for the duel
If anything a compromise could be reached, where two waifus representing the same character are not actually the same. By this I mean they could be alternate versions from different parallel universes or alternate realities or something like that.
I'm waiting for Japanese industry to make them real via robotics. Or maybe advanced genetic engineering. You never know which way Japanese tech will spring. Imagine the insanity then.

Robotics. They're already working on it. There's companies set up that're working specifically on making realistic moving and feeling and looking androids and gynoids. All they need is the AI/human interface/spacial recognition software.
