Inspired back to work by the new codex and the nightmare wherein I was visited by all four of the dark gods. Some of you may remember my old thread but I decided that each of the armies need re-organization and their own threads so I can keep things straight as far as what needs work. So, stay tuned for more plogs and new pic updates. To kick it off though, I'm going to re-post some of the old pics (sorry again for those who do remember the old thread, i'll post new pics soon). Questions, comments and criticisms are most welcome, thanks for stopping by.
The Apostles of Contagion.
Necrosius, the self-proclaimed 'Hand of Nurgle' and former chief apothecary of the Death Guard legion, whose real name is all but lost. An ill fated tale of woe, as disease ravaged the legion he sought to find a way to cure his brothers and worked tirelessly to this end but to no avail. "Though his dead comrades stumbled back to unholy life and his own body had become a bloated rotten husk, he continued past reason and past the bounds of sanity. It was only when he heard the voice of his new father in corruption chortling and whispering to him in the murmerous wings of carrion flies and sibilant gurgling of rotted, decaying organs, that Necrosius embraced the full nightmare truth of what he and his fellows had been damned to become, and embraced the service of his vile god." His retinue has come to be known as the Apostles of Contagion, as in their wake they leave behind fearsome plague zombies and blighted populations turned to the worship of the great father, Nurgle. The warband is most noted for the zombie plague infestations across Vraks and several other systems in the Scarus Sector. Though having seemingly suffered heavy losses during the Vraks war, rumored sightings, increased cult activity and the telltale ravenous hordes of warp zombies assailing the sector once more, suggest that Necrosius is still alive, perhaps un-dead. The warband is presumed to be active in the sectors near the Eye of Terror, no doubt part of the 13th Black Crusade of the Despoiler.
This army will play as both Servants of Decay ( IA9) and the new CSM codex, depending on my opponent.
Necrosius (ca Typhus in 6th)
Champion of Nurgle (ca Chaos Lord in 6th)
The Squad
Cultists
I will be posting new pics of the painting progress on the Apostles and more zombies and cultists soon.

I am now accepting commissions for any hobby project! I've been in the hobby since '92. Specializing in traditional brush methods, creating a gritty dark aesthetic. From single character models to entire armies. From individual terrain pieces to entire table tops. From tabletop level to masterclass level painting. From purchasing and assembly to leveling up your assembled armies paint job. If it has to do with the hobby I can do it! Hit me up and let's chat about your project! |

Thanks Farseer.
Today I have a few update shots of the Apostles and the long overdue pictures of the Champion. I've been working on them during free moments, in fact they sit next to the keyboard demanding attention now . (edit) ew.. the auto-adjust can come out really bad. noted.

Excellent...only thing I might suggest would be to change the colors on the dying imperial guard. Unless your cultists are newly converted from those units.

Damn, that Champion is disgusting. Which is a good thing for a Nurgle army. Nice job with the blood effects.

@cave_dweller: Thanks, that's exactly what i'm going for!
@ archaonson: Appreciated buddy! I've got a system worked out now for picture taking so i'll try to keep the updates rolling in. I was also thinking about taking more detailed pics of the cultists and throwing them up here.
@ theophony: Yeah that guardsman is still in the very early stages of paint but I like to keep the classic Cadian color scheme, it reminds me of the Doom video games which I love. I'm glad you caught the similarity in color of the cultists, the concept is that they are former pdf, so they'll have standard issue fatigues albeit with makeshift armor plating rather than good old Imperial flak armor, like our poor soon to be deceased sarge here.
@lonelictor: Mahalo, i'm glad you like the style choice. Some of the more 'clean' painters in my gaming group have said I go a bit OTT with the gore but I mean these are zombie space marines, I think they should look the part.
Thanks for stopping by, I'll post another update asap.

THings are looking good. Good to see another person being inducted into the fold of nurgles loving arms.
BTW. I like the weathered brass effect. I have been working with that a bit myself. It can be tricky but the payoff is bomb.

Thanks. Yeah I'm a big fan of the method, takes some patience and planning but the proof is in the pudd. There is a painting competition tomorrow that I think i'm going to enter the champion and the plague marine into, so we'll see how well things go.
