I have a 1,250 point guard infantry army and im thinking about allying space wolves to give me a chance in assault and just general fire power all around. I was wondering what allies you would advise me taking with that list

If you want quick assaulting units, that can also deep strike, your better off getting Death Company Assault marines(not to mention FNP makes them really tough). Space Wolves are good for a mix of firepower and assault, but I'd prefer to use jump infantry, since they can charge into assault from a longer distance(and Death Company BAs are tough as heck.)

Space wolf allies are just loverly. I take mine in this form:

Rune priest TDA JotWW, LL
GHs x6 plasma, Standard, Wolf guard pack leader TDA, SS, Combi-plas
Drop pod

Wolf guard
TDA, SS, Combi-melta
Combi-melta
Combi-melta
Combi-plasma
Drop pod.

This may not be what you're looking for as an assault element, but I have to squeeze this into 1500pts. It allows me to alpha-strike vehicles with the wolf guard, and have a very solid scoring unit on my opponent's objective. The drop pods also allow me to block LoS from his scary units.

I've coupled this with gunline guard, but now I'm moving to a fast air-based with artillery guard for turn two shut down of specific targets.

I also ran a very simple SW ally with:

RP divination in a blob of guardsmen. Either buffing them, or throwing prescience on a near by executioner to score more blast marker hits (which was insanely good). It means you can be more aggressive with blast markers that could scatter back onto your main force. I used this to great effect to murder some drop pod stern-guard, deep striking terminators and deep striking blood angels. On top of this the 24" 50% of nullifying psychic powers is *worth the 100pts of a rune priest*
Coupled with a Wolf Priest, SotH, combi-plas and 10 GHs 2x plasma, standard and MotW. These could outflank and sit on objectives or shred foot slogging terminators with plasma.

Both revolve around getting where you want instantly, then sitting there and ploughing whatever you can find with bolter and plasma fire. The latter allies took a charge from assault marines and proceeded to slaughter them. It also distracted some shooting from my main army which was dealing with assault terminators at the time. It really helps with the lack of manoeuvrability that foot guard has and acts as a great distraction. To me they act just like storm troopers would, but are much better at what they do - at a price.

Star Trek taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female...

Definitely go with TH/SS/LC terminators if you want to strike back with a walking bullet magnet. If its serious firepower you want, and can take some hits, a vindicator or two can wreck some crap, and their buffed w/ 6th edition, so they are scarier than ever.
