I've recently acquired a boatload of Boyz. I have well over 100 built sluggas and 12 Shootas, along with nearly 20 unbuilt boyz (and enough shoota parts to rebuild many sluggas).

As the topic says, what is an ideal number of Shootas to have? I don't see myself playing more than a 2000 point game, so I guess it's a question of the max number of Shootas that should be run. I realize that personal playstyle is a factor, but I am more of a hobbyist than a tactical player (with 0 wins in a 1v1), so I don't trust my list-building skills to figure this one out.

At the very least, I'd appreciate some feedback on what you think is a good number for a solid 2000 point shooty list.

Thanks!

I don't play Shooty Orks personally, but it seems that 3 units of 30 Shoota Boyz (with 3 Big Shootas and a Nob w/ PK + BP) seem to be the backbone of many shooty lists, especially of that size.

I guess it also depends on what else you'll be running and what your general theme/playstyle will be like. For example, Shoota Boyz in DakkaWagons are a common setup, and for them, you'll obviously have to reduce the unit size to 20.

I agree with the above poster. 3 units of 30 is a solid number. You could go with less but at an absolute minimum I would say 60 or 3 units of 20.

Give your nob the big shoota, he can then play sniper.

I prefer 120 boys myself.
