Where are cover saves allocated from the Mawloc's ability. In the FAQ it says that it does allow for cover saves to be taken, i just don't know where they would be taken from.

Let's say my guys are in a aegis, woulld they receive the 4+ cover save that the defense line grants them and could they go to ground?

Cover saves independent of attack location (area terrain, special rules/wargear, etc) would likely be handled normally.

Typically, other cover saves are worked out from the position of the firing model/unit. The main exception to this is barrage blasts - these would be from the center of the blast marker.

The Mawloc has not been placed on the board when the saves are made. Perhaps from the center of the Large blast marker used in the TftD attack? Perhaps from the edge of the marker?

I would lean towards center for a RAI opinion.

RAW, I could see an strong argument for only position independent cover saves.

I believe the RAW is that, because it's not a shooting attack, LOS based cover saves don't apply as you never check LOS.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Hmm, so how should cover saves work from it? If GW FAQed it to make sure that people knew that they could take cover saves i think that some sort of cover save should apply

Area terrain, KFF, things like that.

Hiding behind a wall wouldn't give you one because there's nothing to hide from.

Some sorts of cover saves do apply. As Drunkspleen said, ones that are independent of Line of Sight - like the ones rigeld2 listed.
