Ive had a necron force since 3rd edition and have recently decided to dust them off. However, while the silver tide that I used to run to stave off phasing out is still tough as nails, it is not flexible enough for my current group.

I am looking at a 1500 build first, then looking at what to add after that for maximum effect. So ive thrown this together to prioritise my next group of purchases.

HQ Overlord with warscythe and sempiternal weave on a CCB 195 (is it still worth MSS?)

At current I only have the warriors and crypteks and overlord. No Deathmarks, no vehicles. And I dont like the lack of troops in this list, so thinking about dropping the doom scythe in favour of a block of warriors, or dropping one unit of deathmarks for some immortals.

Thoughts?

MSS is almost a must-buy for Necrons, i'd keep it.
I would also agree that dropping 5 deathmarks and a Cryptek will be worth more troops.
Consider swapping them for a 10-block of immortals, leaves you 25 points, you could grab a few more warriors, or maybe drop a warrior or two, and throw a Standard Lord with WS/MSS in with the immortals, and they'd be solid against an assault.

I have a list that is similar to this for 1500 points.Two groups of deathmarks with despairteks is overkill at 1500 imo. I would consider taking out that group and the cryptek and adding immortals. Also with the left over points its a good idea to give your overlord MSS; its too good to pass up.

I recommend dropping your Warriors to 9 and fitting in Lanceteks, and at least on Solar Pulse. If you do decide to grab a brick I would run the OLord with it, give him a Res Orb and Phaeron, as they combo tends to work pretty well backed up with a could GA's.

Also, if you like silver tidish design, consider a Stalker. That twinlinking can considerably boost the damage output of blobs.
