So I just started painting my very first models (Tau Fire Warriors and vehicles). I purchased a can of Army Painter "Army Green" Colour Primer and a bottle of the "Army Green" warpaint to cover up small mistakes. Even though they heavily advertise that the paints should be a 100% perfect match, the acrylic paint is much lighter.
I know it's a vague description - I can try to upload a picture if it would help.

My question is, what am I doing wrong? I tried two different bottles of the acrylic paint and get the same results. Am I supposed to be doing something more than just shake the bottle? Has anyone else had problems with these paints?

Thanks in advance!

How thick is the paint you sprayed from the can compared to what you are brushing on? If you doused a model with spray paint or even just used multiple thin layers, it is going to make the paint darker.

No such thing as a stupid question for me, haha. I've been painting for a total of about 2-3 days. I am shaking the bottle.

I probably put on too much spray paint...I guess I need to find a tutorial or something. When I put on a light coating, there's still a lot of grey/untouched plastic.

A little bit of untouched metal is better than over sprayed IMHO.

If you have the time and patience you can always use brush on primer. I do this sometimes when its too wet or cold out, or if I want to prime a particular color that I don't have a can of.
