How long would it take for a fully-painted miniature to completely be soaked in Acetone? I know 24 hours is the norm, but would about 20 hours be okay?

Acetone is really quite strong. Try more like 24 seconds!

Only put metal models into acetone, as it WILL melt plastic and resin, even a quick dip will melt details.
What I've done before is to drop the (metal) model into a small pot of acetone and (with rubber gloves on) immediately scrub the model down with an old tooth brush. Maybe 60 seconds later my model is relatively clean and just needs a quick rinse with some fresh acetone before being blasted dry with compressed air.

I just realised two stupid things:

-When I need to dispose of the Acetone, I just pour it down the drain. Is there an environmentally friendly way of getting rid of that used Acetone?

-I also forget to wash the miniature in water before scrubbing, so the wooden table on my workroom now has Acetone stains. Is there any way I can remove the Acetone from the table?
