i say sorry for my bad english (i'm italian) and i apologize if this questions has been already asked before...

anyways! i play CSM and i'm using the new 'torrent' demon weapon. Now, my idea is that i can place the flamer template in any postition as long as the larger part of it is not closer then the smaller part to my model (let's say, i can place it ALMOST horizontal to the firing model in order to hit the maximum number of models) and, of course, as long as it's 12" from the firing model.
My friend says that the flamer template can be placed anywhere at max 12" from my model, but the flamer template must be placed in line with the line of sight of the firing model.

Who's right?

i hope i explained it well and that someone can help me with this.

You do not have to place (or rather, you may be *forced* to place) the template entrely within LOS

However, the rules on page 16, under "out of sight", state you cannot allocate wounds from a wound pool to any model that is out of LOS of all models in the unit.

So, in a unit of 1 model, if the model firing cannot see models, it cannot wound them even with a torrent flamer. If you have a unit of more than 1 model, then see if any model can see the target - if so the flamer can wound them.
