There is a rather mean (very poor sport) powergamer in our group, and he's undefeated, running a nidzilla list, (Flyrants, Tervigons, Trygons, and the Doom) I'd like some C&C on how everyone thinks this list will do, im hoping to alpha strike him hard right off the bat with plasma, and a lot of AP2-Ap3 goodness. Please help me out! Overlord 190 (with immortals) (MSS, WS, PS, Orb) Immortals x10 Gauss 170 x6 Wraiths 240 x3 whips (for counter-assault) x3 H Destroyers 180 (MC hunting) x1 Night Scythe 100 (with warriors for late game) x5 deathmarks 95 A-Barge 90 A-Barge 90 x9 warriors 104 x8 warriors 91 x8 warriors 91 x5 warriors 65 Stalker 150 Monolith 200 VoD Tek 60 (with deathmarks, start deployed on field, mark a MC, VoD, and take it down, with twin linking help from the stalker) x2 LanceTeks 70 1999 on the dot

He's hardly a powergamer for fielding tervigons and a flyrant - Nids have very limited competitive choices.
Not sure how you alpha strike him with plasma when playng Crons though - distinct lack of plasma in that codex ... so saying Crons is a tough run for Nids due to all that shooting -especially if you run the warriors/immortals with tesla. A-Barges work really well, HDestroyers can be good but less so as they only have the 3 shots - adding in some normal destroyers can be useful as the S5AP3 is still dangerous against MCs.
Stalker always reads better than he plays from the few times I've seen one. 5 troops choices seems a lot - I'd maybe only take 4 and use the points elsewhere - say another flyer as Nids have trouble with them.
Just sit, be patient and let him come to you - he has to. Thin him out then claim the objectives late on.

My recommendation, drop a group of Warriors as Ruminator said and add a Lord with MSS/WS to the Overlords Immortal crew and add Phaeron to the Immortals. Then you have a legitimate unit alongside the Wraiths that can tangle with his TMC's and Gaunts alike in CC.
Wraiths devastate TMC's, so it's all about being able to take them on one on one. The D&D can be quite effective against Nids as well, even against the non-marked target, because of the poor leadership of the Gaunts. Automatically Appended Next Post: I do think you should keep the Stalker, as that Heat Ray will eat chunks out of his TMC's and the Heavy Flamer is a very suitable back up against the smaller bugs. Plus killing MC's is all about focus firing and the Stalker goes along way and boosting those capabilities.

When I said plasma, I was simply talking about the Eldrich Lances on the Crypteks, Its the closest we get to it.
Sadly, I don't currently own another flyer, thats why I went so points heavy on troops. I figured it was more guns to tackle gaunts with, to free up my high powered shooting.

Monoliths are terrible as their gauss arrays fire snap shots if the main weapon fires due to the ord rules in 6th.
I would drop the stalker and monolith. Stalkers are crap due to the lack of power weps in melee and poor damage output for cost. TL on bs4 isnt impressive. His point cost of immortals or warriors do much more and are more survivable.
things to grab:
Fliers
A barge
Wraiths
Deathmarks
Group the warriors into 2 or 3 larger squads with res orb in each. makes them much harder to kill. Lances are largely wasted on nids. Lightning field, however, is incredibly useful.
Grab a D lord to run with the wraiths. With MSS there isnt anything in the nid codex that can reliably take that unit down.
Really the overlord is largely wasted here. He cant go toe to toe with anything in the nid codex reliably due to Smash IDing him. Even tervigons will knock him out and they are not designed for heavy combat. MSS and gauntlets are probably the best way to go to deal with both hordes and MCs. Warscythe wont ID anything and will rarely get to strike.
also, regular destroyers are better than heavy destroyers vs nids. Vs MCs the S5 AP3 guns actually do 1/6 more wounds per gun due to the quantity of fire and only needing 5s. plus the regular destroyers are much cheaper
