Painted this for nerdfest's squad leader competition, tell me what y'all think. (I think the hat could use a daaaaark grey highlight, i tried codex gray straight from pot and if you look at older pics, thats why i went back to straight black..)

Could also probably use some liquid green stuff on the hat but, more projects ahead of fixing that!!!

Yeah my first attempt sculpting. Poorly executed. I didn't have any prints in it till I was applying welds to the gun... flipped the mini over and held it by the top of head/base.... then realized... WTF DID I JUST DO... look at hat and its pressed down over his nose >.<

I like your work. Try using some oil when working with your green stuff. Olive oil or canola work great. The oil will keep the green stuff from sticking to everything as well as your fingers. Also most hobby store will sell a great number of sculpting tools. You need a smoothing tool to remove those pesky finger prints. Hope that helps, Please post more of your work I like the way you imagine your orks.

I love that mini, that is definitely the essence of an Ork Freebooter. And, anything with a Gatling type weapon, wins in my book

Thanks a lot for the tip with oil! I'll try that! I have a metal pick/hook set I have been using but don't have a flat tool. Proved nearly impossible Smoothing prints out.

I'll try and get some more done / posted soon. Feedback is fueling my furnaces!

actually the hat looks cool after that "mistake" you did. It looks all ratty and torn now, perfect for an ork.

Yea Id say if you made special rules for that guy, his weapon would certainly be a TL Deffgun
