So what is the firing arc of the storm raven, could I fire at a model directly in front of it, so the nose is just behind the model, but of course on its base so a lot higher, I assume that the flyer isnt fixed at that position and can pitch to shoot at things rather then staying dead level,

If it did stay dead level then the top mounted turrets would need to be around 15-18 inches away from a model to be able to get a LOS on them.

You have something akin to a 45 Degree angle to shoot. however you have to be able to draw LOS from the weapon to shoot at your target.

Yes, a Storm Raven has a large dead zone for its top gun.
