I've seen a few chaos army list write ups out there where they have something such as:
10 cultist 50
9 autogun 9
heavy stubber 5

My issue is with the legality of the champion taking an autogun. It states in the book that any Chaos Cultist may take an autogun for a point. But, the Cultist Champion is not a Chaos Cultist, he has a different entry and stat line, would he then be disallowed options for Chaos Cultists?

It doesn't say that any model can take an autogun.

This question applies for other entries in the book such as noise marines and berserkers.

so: can a champion only take options specific to them?

The Champion cannot take an autogun, same as an infantry sarge doesnt get them

same "problem" creeps up several times throughout the book. The Noise Marine champion can't take a sonic blaster or a blastmaster, the chaos terminator champion pays 2-3 times the cost for access to the same wargear as his squad-mates (and they all have the same number of attacks)

The book is good overall but has several glaring flaws

I seriously doubt this is an error. The Chaos Terminator Champion's wargear is in most cases only slightly more expensive than that of his squadmates, and it gains Directed Attack and can be used in Challenges, so should be worth more.

Not partaking in the thread topic in any way, but I found this to be a very interesting insight on Kingsley's part. It makes total sense!
In fact, due to 6th edition Challenge rules, I think identical wargear costing more for squad leader Characters might become a trend in future codexes..
