Any Dakka-ites playing Day-Z?

I just started playing it this morning. It's pretty awesome. But would be a lot more fun with buddies. It would be really cool to get a private Dakka server if someone was willing to donate the resources.

I like running around in the woods for 6 hours then getting sick and getting shot in the back by some schmuck who saw me first.

I can't say I've enjoyed my time with Day-Z, but I'm interested in the standalone version when that comes out.

With any multi-player game, sometimes you have crappy experiences.

Overall I am really enjoying it.

I think the stand alone game will be a lot better. Better hacking control will definitley help. Also, i think you need to have friends to play with.

My steam ID is SSGTurk. Hit me up if you see me online. I have voice comms.

I was playing with my friends, a group of like 6 of us! We could take on pretty much anything we ran into, but when one guy dies and he needs to describe where he is just to find he's like a two hour jog away is no fun. I've had a few really fun moments with the game, but they were usually after running in the dark for six hours.

This game is awsome.

I like the shows that I've seen so far, but I can't figure out how this game comes out.

Are you supposed to buy Americas Army2, and then download it, or can you just download the game altogether?

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Outside the DarkTower, amongst the roses.

America's Army and Arma 2 are not the same game. Yes you need to buy arma 2 then you download the mod.

Every Dakkanaught gets a 4+ Pinch of Salt save.
When you suffer a Falling Sky hit, roll a D6 - on a 4+ the hit is ignored as per the Pinch of Salt save. On a 1-3 panic insues - you automatically fail common sense tests for the next 2 weeks and get +7 to your negativity stat. -Praxiss

I played it solidly for about a month but the lack of real gameplay and crippling bugs (not to mention rampant hacking) pushed me away.

Its a solid idea but the implementation isn't very good, then again it is an alpha.

Hopefully the standalone will fix most of the these problems and the shoot first mentality won't transfer over.

The only time that I have been killed in a worthy, non death matchesque way was as you describe. Someone ambushed me extremely effectively at a deer hide in the middle of nowhere, he must have been camping there for ages.

Annoying but you have to applaud someone for playing the game 'right'.

Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

I found the game to be too much of a 'PvE' experience. Some friends and I played it and we concerned ourselves only with grinding around for all the best guns, equipment, fixing vehicles and whatnot...

We never actually engaged in any true PvP shenanigans because, frankly, we were too scared to lose our stuff.

It has the potential to be one of the best PvP games there is. I have had some engagements that have been some of the most tense and memorable gaming that I have ever experienced, even though only a handful of shots were fired. Unfortunately the game devolved into a deathmatch which sucked alot of the tension out of it.

Agreed, the game becomes very dull after a few hours spent running around.
