Heyy guys, this is a rough draft of a Grey Knights build I'm trying to perfect; Purgation Knights. I'm trying to steer clear of the Purifier/Paladin spam that I see so regularly and this is what I came up with:#

1. Grey Knight Grandmaster - 250pts.
w/ MC-Psycannon, Blind grenades, Psychotroke grenades, Meltabombs.

2. Ordo Malleus Inquisitor - 73pts.
w/ Psyker (Psychic communion), Power sword, Power armour.

3. Venerable Dreadnought - 195pts.
w/ 2x TL-Autocannon, Psybolt ammo.

4. Grey Knight Terminator Squad - 230pts.
w/ Psycannon, 2x Halberd, Daemonhammer, MC-Daemonhammer.

5. Grey Knight Strike Squad - 140pts.
w/ Incinerator, 2x Halberd, MC-Halberd.

6. Grey Knight Strike Squad - 140pts.
w/ Incinerator, 2x Halberd, MC-Halberd.

7. Purgation Squad - 180pts.
w/ 4x Psycannons, Teleport homer.

• Razorback - 51pts.
w/ Psybolt ammo, Searchlight.

8. Purgation Squad - 180pts.
w/ 4x Psycannons, Teleport homer.

• Razorback - 51pts.
w/ Psybolt ammo, Searchlight.

Total = 1500pts.

So the idea is that the GM makes the 2 Purgation Squads and the Ven. Dread scoring (hopefully, if not, both Purgations). Holding both the Strikes and the GM+Termie combo in reserve and using Psychic Communion from the Inquisitor to ensure that they come in on a 2+, landing next to the Teleport homers in the case of the termies and getting into position to use the Incinerators for the strikes.

Like I said, it's under construction in terms of strategies and tactics, so any C&C would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Iranna.

In my opinion, Halberds aren't worth the points for Strike Squads. Except for the Justicar, and that is for Challenges.

Venerable Dreads pay very heavy premium for ability that is not nearly as good in 6e as it was in 5e.

For the inquisitor, have you considered giving him TDA and psycannon? It would raise his cost to 110, but would give you free upgrade to Daemonhammer.
Or are you committed to having him ride one of the Razorbacks?

I'd also combine two 5 man Strike squads to single 10 man squad and give them Psybolt ammo. You could still Combat Squad them if you needed more units, only thing you'd lose is one justicar.

As for tactics, Razorbacks are nice but being your only vehicles [edit: obviously you do have the dread as well] and very thin-skinned, don't assume they will survive for long.

If you're using the Inquisitor only for reserves, you could also consider taking ADL or Bastion with Comms relay.

Agree with the above

make 10 man squads with psybolt for strikes

Change the ven dread to a normal dread

For the grandmaster, at that price, you would be better taking draigo lol, psycannon is to expensive for him I feel, you would be better just with the grenadas, maybe a halberd or warding stave to go better in challenges, but try and keep cheap as possible

Just my 2 cents

I just feel for grey knights with how pricey they are... you didnt armor them enough. I dont think my tyranids would have much issue here because they just seem to squishy. Some good punch to them which is good but not enough protection for one of the "toughest" codex armies around. You may get away with some of the trickery from deep striking and all but your also deep striking A LOT of your army core. which although given a 2+ reserve and pretty safe entry... there isnt much for me to tackle on the field and that could give me 2 turns (if i go first) to start munching.

Anything will die if you can stab it enough.

I also forgot, you really should buy Servo-skulls for your inquisitor, in case you cannot get Purgation squads to positions you want.

You save total 70 points by dropping changing dread to normal, combining strike squads to single 10 man squad with psy-bolt ammo while removing halberds from everyone except Justicar.

And like tuiman said, Psycannon on grandmaster is extremely expensive, I don't think it's worth the points. By changing it to incinerator you'd have enough points left to buy second Psyfleman.

Also, do take into account that because of challenges, having Hammer on Terminator Justicar is a major trade-off. Whenever you're not facing enemy that has 2+ save or enemy that has AP2 weapon that strikes in Init order, you're better off with Sword or Halberd.
