The Nimbosan guard regiments first came to prominence after the nimbus crusade, where they first began to gain notice. Their most famous action during the crusade was the rescue of Castellan Folkert. A convoy consisting 2 razorbacks a rhino, and 2 predators was on their way to attack the tau garrison around starport known as plaeria when they were caught in an ambush. Almost immediately the predators were raked with railgun rounds, while one of the razorbacks exploded from fusion blaster fire. The surviving templars formed the rest of their vehicles into a circle, returning fire and dragging their wounded to cover. Two nearby valkyries laden with nimbosan guardsmen picked up the distress signal and rerouted in order to aid the beleaguered templars. One of the valkyries landed, deploying it's troops to aid the templars and evacuate the wounded, the other started making strafing runs on the tau. When the first valkyrie took off with the wounded, the second one landed, deploying it's troops inside of the circle of burning vehicles. When the relief force finally arrived, the tau were finally pushed back. The templars lost 3 men to tau fire and another 7 were wounded. Out of the twenty four nimbosan guardsmen that landed, 13 remained after the rescue. After this action, the 8th nimbosan air cavalry was granted permission to where the templar cross.

The nimbosans tactics consist of deploying their veterans (known as vipers)and heavy weapons near the frontline by valkyrie, with sentinels (known as copperheads) to provide mobile fire support while the remaining forces consisting of chimeras and leman russ's arrive later. The Nimbosans have very little in the way of artillery and heavy anti tank weapons, rather relying on meltas, missile launchers, auto cannons and lascannons to deal with tanks.

The Nimbosans keep about 500 special ops soldiers, known as pythons, which are trained in using modified tau weapons and are deployed in small numbers along with normal guardsmen behind enemy lines in order to hunt tau soldiers.

Sounds a bit far fetched, maybe if you reduce the ambushed force a little it would be better (2 squads) and they took refuge in a cave or a narrow pass/gulley. Have one of them do something really heroic that earns the Templars respect.

This is just my opinion but run with what you feels right for your fluff.

I like it a lot! I love the Nimbosa crusade, templars, and guard. Are the serpents your army? I would love to see some chimera's or valkyrie's with some sort of snake design on them.

They are my army, Thank you! The sentinels will be painted like copperhead snakes, the valkyries will have rattlesnakes painted on the nose, and the chimeras will have a snake painted on their top.
