I know this may have been covered in the ME3 discussion thread, but I haven't actually played the game yet and don't want to spoiler myself.
Do you need an active internet connection to PLAY ME3 solo, or is it just to REGISTER the game?
I thoroughly enjoyed the first 2 games in the series, but have had to move to get a job and am currently renting a place which, as it is a converted garage, has no permanent internet connection. I do most of my internet stuff thgrough work, but can occasionally - when the owners are out, and when I can be bothered - drag my PC into the house and connect it up to update my antivirus and install something, do a bit of browsing etc. with their permission.
I just don't want to install it only to find out that it requires an active connection even to play single player, the first two games were single player and I want to find out where it goes from the end of ME2, but can't get a permanent connection yet. (Even TP links are no good as they won't physically fit in the space between the socket and the floor where the owners plug in their router.

It'll take Marilyn Monroe, and Lao-Tzu, and Einstein, and Morobuto, and Buddy Holly, and Aristophanes…then all of this…all of this…was for nothing. Unless we go to the stars." AS far as I can tell you only need an internet connection to log into origin then launch the game. After that the connection could be broken I think. Obviously for multiplayer you need to be online.
Ill get back shortly after a quick test.
So I disconnected my ethernet cable, I managed to get to the main menu fine, however you need to be connected to make use of any DLC you own(even the free ones). So keep the connection until after it has verified everything. Either that or keep the internet connection on.

Thanks. Now at least I know I can install it during one of my brief periods where I can connect, then I can play it, at least vannilla, to see the end of the series until I can organise a permanent connection.

That is, providing I can get past "Origin" of course!

Sorry, not that confident. Have limited access to do stuff like this, so Saturday will be my next opportunity.
Last time I tried, it immediately wanted to update itself, not unreasonable as it was with ME3 which is quite an old game by now. Unfortunately it stopped 99.52% through the update and then steadfastly refused to contact the servers again. Checked my internet connection and nothing wrong there, nor was my anti-virus or firewall stopping it. My conclusion was that the Origin servers were down, and there is no guarantee they will be working when I try again as I will be restricted to what are understandably the busiest times.

Seems I may have maligned Origin. Having tried again yesterday, it may not have been their servers that went down whilst I was trying to update it last week.
I now have no internet connecton at all. either my system has broken down, or the installation of Origin last week has somehow corrupted the settings on my connection. either way, I am now left without internet access except through work and a gaem I can't even install - for the moment.
:(

Oh well, still not been able to install this, nor patch Batman: Arkham City. So no ME3 at all, and not able to get past Ra's Al Goul.
At least I know why now. The landlady came home the other day and when I spoke to her she mentioned that the phone was down, BT are on the case, but it took them 8 days to restore my mother's phone line earlier in the year, so I'm not holdng my breath.
