My army is nearly finished this is what I have got so far:

HQ
1 Mephiston plasma pistol 250

Elite
1 Sanguinary Preist Jump Pack 75
1 Sanguinary Preist Jump Pack 75

Troops
10 Assault Squad 2x Meltagun 210
10 Assault Squad 2x Meltagun 210

Fast Attack
1 Land Speeder Underslung Multi-Melta 70
1 Land Speeder Underslung Multi-Melta 70

Heavy Support
1 Devastator Squad 4x Missile Launcher 130
1 Devastator Squad 4x Missile Launcher 130

That is a total of 1220 points.

I am looking for any suggestions on more upgrades and/or more models (and the reasons why) to fill the last 280 points.

Upgrades specifically for the Sargent's. (As well as any others upgrades for other models).

All suggestions much appreciated - Thanks

I would cut Mepheston. Hes a great beat stick but hes walking alone in this one and will get shot up. If you want a libby just take a libby with JP and Eposlery LVL and run with that
As for land speeders.... They die on me way to fast. But if you are using them as a suicide unit then that could work out to your favor.
the Extra 280 I would take a Storm Raven With Typhoon ML and Hurricane bolters and TL LC throwing him around 255
and finaly for your Sgts I put (when I ran a list simler to this one) Infernus Pistoles for the last little shot at close range OR Power weapons just to try and thin out MEQ
I would cut the Speeders for anouther Assault Squad with Upgraids just so you can have anouther Scoring unit. If you feel like you must have a FA Slot filled Baal Pred.

Do you ever go into a fight thinking "there's no point giving it my best, I'll get another chance later?"

We only ever get one shot marlin. Life is one shot

Power weapons sound good, and an extra assault squad instead of the land speeders. Then the libby would have a squad to tag along with. Thanks for the advice.


Anyone else with a different view on this?

You can use Mephiston, He's the best HQ in the codex. Just make sure to hide him behind cover or your assault marines. I think 3 squads of assault marines is over kill. 2 scoring choices is good if you need more you can always combat squad them.

You really don't need 2 Sanguinary priest 1 should be enough. As long as the the other squad is within 6 inches they will Also get his buffs.

A storm raven is a very good choice as blood angels brother suggested, but I wouldn't run it as he equipped. I use mine with TL multi melta, Assault cannon, and hurricane bolters. Assault cannons are great. Can still penetrate armor and are rending.

Attack bikes work as well as the land speeders and are cheaper, T5, and get a jink save! If you want to use LS you might be better of equipping them with heavy bolters. You can use them for Anti infantry purposes but still keep distance. I find Baal predators great too. The one thing jump BA lack is fire power and Baals can fix this.

One last thought to consider is sniper scouts are pretty good for holding objectives in your back field. If they have cloaks they will usually get a 3+ cover save and a 2+ if they go to ground.

Mephy is ok, but not amazing. Those points would be better spend with a JP libby or two (oh, and btw cut either a priest or his JP), then add some PW/PF to the RAS you have there.
If you have extra points I would go for a Tac. squad with transport, and then with the points from mephy get the devs a transport then a baal or two. Like, this is my list.

1x Libby (JP) - 125

2x Priest (1x JP, PW) - 140

10x RAS (PW, 2x MG) - 225

10x RAS (PF, 2x flamer) - 225

10x Tac. (PF, MG, ML) - 200
-->Rhino - 50

Baal Pred (AC) - 115

2x Speeders (3x MM, 1x HB) - 150

10x Dev (x2 ML, x2 PC) - 220
-->Rhino - 50

obviously its not perfect but it has decent mechanization and a god core of troops.
mephiston just isn't worth it, TBH - you rarely want 1/6 of your army in 1 unit, never not 1 model. I dont approve of deathstars... especially not 1 man deathstars.

There's a ton of hate for Mephiston but trust me he is worth the points.

The mod on the forum won his national tourney and he included Mephiston in his list. So he must have some weight to him.

Go with the Storm Raven. Its a beast of a flyer
The only reason I would say dont go with Mephy is besause its 250points with no Inv Save. most people treat him like a Vehical and game over. Im not saying hes not good, He is realy good . I just dont run him in under 2K points

I disagree, I ran in him a 1000 point tournament and got second two weeks ago. The player I mentioned on Bolter and chainsword won a national tournament at 1750 using him. Just don't treat him like a vehicle. Hide him behind a screen or cover to block LOS as he moves toward your opponent. Don't use him to try to kill anything with a 2+sv or mass ap2.

I guess its becous He is played by my friend all the time and I have grown accustom to killing him early game.
That is why I say nothing below 2K becouse he is such a large part of your army.
Run him or not is your call. He is good but pricey

Just to note there are a Few shooting attacks that can cause ID.
I like to bring this one up because it got me in a bad way when I was playing Nidzilla in 5th w/ new codex.

Eldar Wraith Guard, when they roll a to wound of 6 it ID's

Doom a target and bam lots of ID typically >.<
