Subject: What would be the lowest point army list that would be eligible to be played in a tournement?

I'm new to the hobby and collecting my first army ( imperial guard) and on a budget it's alittle difficult and is going to take some time, but I really enjoy all aspects of it, building models, painting models, collecting them and reading about thier history. And thing I love most about this hobby is it just keeps growing.

This probaly belongs to general discussion, but anyway:
This is bit hard question, because it depends on tournament. Sometimes there are Combat patrol type "tournies" in FLGS's, and they're generally between 200-500 points, but one must take into account that armies aren't even remotely balanced at that point level and you cannot use standard missions with them.
1 000 points is the level where I'd say playing standard missions start to work properly.
Generally most tournaments are 1850 or 2000 points. (Edit. This was supposed to be 1750, not 1850 but I guess my typo should live on for posterity)

Starting out, work on 1,000 pts then move to 1,500 pts, then 1,750. If you're new to the game then best to play firendly games at a Club rather than hit tournaments too early.
