Whao. That's a awsone kickstarter, but sadly the fact it's over $2000 means it's still out of my price range.

On the bright side this is ALOT cheaper compared to what they costed only a year or two ago. So seeing the price brought down this low gives me high hopes that technology will continue to be developed and go down in price. Very awesome.

We talked about this a little bit when someone linked to the new MakerBot, here:

Someone also mentioned the B9 Creator, also funded via Kickstarter, and also using resin.

Personally, I think the Form 1 is going to be leaps and bounds better than either of those, particularly the MakerBot since it is still using FDM.

I just sold my Thing-O-Matic on Ebay, and am putting the funds into a pledge for the Form 1. Pretty excited

Considering I would have to pledge $2,699 or more at this point... I am kinda out of this game.

However one day, if I just had the money to spend, I would buy one.

This ends in 12 hours! I don't think it's going to get over 3 million, but it's just about to eclipse 2,000 backers

It's over! And I'm one of the 1000 or so folks who pledged for one. Pretty darn stoked about this, I think I will finally be able to make the custom 3d board game pieces I designed, but was unable to make on MakerBot.

Unfortunately I'm in the last / April wave, but that will give folks ahead of me a chance to find bugs / works out the kinks

I wish I could afford this - but I can't.

Still, I know someone, a friend of mine, and he's getting one.

Maybe he'll be able to occasionally hook a bother up?!?

These are going to be pretty much essential for people wanting to run a business in future... so many possibilities.

And learning how to make things in 3d is pretty easy as well, there are places you can go to pay another $2000 or so for an intensive 1-month training course that will have you 3d-ing like a pro at the end of it.

That, or a lot of internet tutorials and head scratching. :p

I'm excited that I might be able to use my degree in 3D modeling to use in the next few years as these get less expensive. 3D modeling programs have moved leaps and bounds over the last 10 years so that it is pretty easy to pick up and learn.
