Hello, I recently got back into 40k and decided to start an Imperial Guard army. I will mostly be facing Space Marines and Orks at my local gaming store. I would appreciate any thoughts you have on my list. Thank you.

Drop the heavy bolter sponsons. Way too overpriced. At that point you have like 60 points more to play with, for a total of 70 left?

70 points can give you either another squad of guardsmen, your platoon squad a chimer, or maybe a second primaris psyker?

I think he means Hull Heavy Bolter on the LRBT. I would switch them to HHF, on the Chimeras also. The HBS on the Vendetta are cheap and fun, but rarely useful. I would only take them if you have no where else to spend the points.

The Infantry Platoon doesn't seem very good. I would drop it for another Vendetta, LRBT or Vet squad. If you really want an IP, drop something, give it an ADL and some teeth.

Foolishmortal is right I meant hull heavy bolters. I changed the chimeras to heavy flamer/multilaser and the LRBT to hull mounted heavy flamers. I want to make this a mech heavy list so I will exchange the platoon for another LRBT. But is two troop choices enough? The new list is now

Looks like a solid Mechanized IG list for 1000 points. 25 points left, you might buy a dozer blade for the melta squad and an AC for the Plasma Vets.

Now to pick at little things:

Have you considered putting the melta vets in the vendetta? A chimera rarely makes it into melta range anyway, so this would get them where you want almost immediately.

Primaris psychers just aren't that good. If you keep the chimera from the melta vets who are now in the vendetta, and change the PP to a CCS you could get...

CCS with 4 meltas and a melta bomb on the commander
CCS with 3 plasmas
CCS with 3 flamers, 1 heavy flamer and a bolter on the commander

Remember, this gives you access to the oh-so-sexy orders too. It also allows you to tune another squad to fit a niche you might need, whether that's anti-tank, anti-horde or AP2 spam.

I like the way you think Griddlelol! Since I have six AP 2 weapons and five heavy flamers, I think I will go with a CCS with four meltas. I'll put them in a chimera since they'll be safer inside it than just foot slogging. My new list is as follows:

That's a horrific looking mech list for 1k points. Horrific in that I wouldn't want to face it!

Personal preference would be to switch one of the Russes to another Vendetta and put demolitions on the melta vets, but I don't think that's going to make much of a difference to the list.
