Got a tiny little escalation league starting up, and was looking to try my hand at Skaven play. Only a couple games played so far, but here goes for a starter list. I think it covers the basics\necessities of a Skaven list. Think it will work?

I've got over 100 bodies on the field, BSB is decently protected in terms of saves and bunker, and at a very low points game I've got a cannon, two re-directors, and plenty of slaves to tarpit and blast.

So, thoughts?

It's pretty solid. The Cannon is really the only thing that kills stuff, though.
I'd consider dropping a Rat Dart and shields on the Slaves to get an Engineer with a Doomrocket for more offense.
Also, Slaves should never have shields. It is almost entirely pointless, mathematically.
And an Enchanted Shield on the BSB isn't going to do much with that Halberd. I'd swap it for the Charmed Shield.

Does my BSB lose his +2 to armour saves in combat because of the halberd? I know he wouldn't get the parry, but I thought he would keep the armour save benefit since it is still a piece of wargear.

Oddly enough that's exactly what I had before, engineer with a doomrocket. I love that guy. Going to rewrite as I agree, there's not enough killing going on besides the cannon.

It's a shield, and a halberd requires two hands.

I played a 500pt tournament and Destroyed everyone there because of a few average to mildly lucky shots with my Doomrocket. It's stupid, how good that thing is. If they made it 50pts, Move-or-Fire, and had a more dangerous Misfire!, I'd call it fair.

Doomrocket is fairly broken, but considering how Skaven stuff like to blow up it's fair enough. The list looks great other than the slaves being equipped thats points that can be used else where with a bit more productivity behind it. Since in 650 points every point you spend really have to be worth it IMO.

I altered the list slightly. Took the shields off the slaves, added in the warlock engineer with doomrocket, changed unit numbers to 31 slaves, 31 slaves, 34 clanrats, got rid of the halberd on the BSB, and got rid of the shield on the warlord.

Played against Orc's and Gobo's, did very well. I agree, the doomrocket is incredible. 30 points landed on 8 of his main boys, killed 6 of them. Couldn't have been happier.

Game was a great victory. A flank charge with the clanrats w/warlord into his main unit being held in place by slaves was enough to cause him to fail leadership, flee, and be caught. Great game though, lots of fun and wacky stuff happening!

I haven't been able to find anything to the contrary, but when firing the warp lightning cannon into slaves, you don't have to randomise hits anymore right? Just see what's under the path and template, and that's who is hit\wounded right?
