I am having a discussion with a friend via email and dont have my rulebook with me (at work) - could someone help me out? My view on disembarking is that you can only disembark from a vehicle if it has moved 6" or less (some flyers being an exception thanks to special rules). Also - you can only charge out of a vehicle that is either a: Open Topperd or b: has the Assault vehicle rule. SO: You can only charge out of a Land Raider/Trukk/Battlewagon etc if it has moved 6" or less. Correct?

You are right.
the rules state that you can only move up to 6inches and then disembark, even fast/skimmers cant disembark at a longer movement.
and basically open-topped vehicles have the assault vehicle special rule
which grants the unit that disembarked from the vehicle to charge that turn, also an important additive " including disembarking from a destroyed vehicle".
which means you cant normally charge from a destroyed vehicle

An exception to this "open topped" and your unit assaulting when disembarking from it would be a Drop Pod.
Drop pods are considered Open Topped once they have landed, yet units that arrive via deep strike on a Drop Pod cannot assault in the turn they arrive.

True. In that instance Deep Strike over-rules Open-Topped.

Not related to the OP question but indeed related to disembarking, what happens when a filled flying transport get a locked velocity result? Can the unit inside disembark? or are they stuck forever on the vehicle? That would be a sweet way to deal with a friend's termies on a storm raven

Certain vehicles can still dump embarked models while Zooming. However, other than these exceptions, if a Flyer is Locked, the unit is stuck on board for the rest of the game.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

That's what i thought nice... I'll try to now blow up that storm raven then, lol. Yah i know the necrons got some special rules on theirs to allow them to disembark since their flyers can't hover or something like that

Storm/Blood Ravens, Night Scythes, and Valkyries are the only Flyers (AFAIK) that can dump their passengers while Zooming.

Storm / Blood Ravens as well? I recall they having a special type of hover to be able to actually disembark Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh wait I'm confusing them with storm talons....

Page 37 – Stormraven Gunships, Shadow Skies.
Change the first sentence to read “If the Stormraven has moved more than 6", passengers can still disembark, but they must do so as follows:”
combined with
Q: Can units embarked on a Flyer (Transport) make use of any special disembarkation rules for their passengers (such as Skies of Blood or Grav Chute Insertion) if the vehicle has suffered a Crew Shaken/Stunned or Locked Velocity? (p81)
A: Yes.
at least implies that they can drop off units while zooming.
In my personal opinion, however, there is nothing that specifically states that they override the no disembarking while Zooming, however it is heavily implied.
