I am sorry if this seems like a repeat, as the idea came to me from another thread, and for the life of me I can't find the thread. However, I remember in the other thread the idea was kind of side noted, so a different thread for this topic might have been a good idea anyways.

Moving onto the question, as those of you who know the Black Templar lost Dedicated Drop pods for our terminators due to them being left off our dedicated transport list for terminators. However, this is the concept.

On page 38 of the black templars codex, it still states that the drop pod may carry up to 5 terminators.

Elsewhere, I believe in one of the FAQs (I will check as soon as possible to see if I can find which one in order to quote it) it was stated that you can take drop pods (I believe) without actually haven taken a unit for it.

Besides the restrictions of needing to start with half your forces on the field (minus those that don't have a choice) at the beginning of the game, is there any other rule out there that would stop me from purchasing a drop pod, placing it in reserve, and loading it with 5 terminators who are also placed in reserve?

No, as they are a dedicated transport you have no way to purchase one wtihout buying the unit first, andt hat unit cannot be terminators

IIRC you cant use a DT from another squad and put a different squad in there at the beginning of the game

Just to let you know, the thing you're thinking of is where they said that you don't have to PUT the squad in the drop pod. You do still have to buy it for the squad, however.

Yeah, there is currently no way to put one squad in another's DP. Sorry, and I'm not sure why they screwed the BT over this way... unless its to get them used to SM rules, since they'll likely be rolled into their codex.
