My DV and CSM Codex finally arrived in the mail the other day, so I am preparing a list for use sometime soon. My first CSM list was a 2k Death Guard list, and I have been itching to use a "pure" Nurgle themed list once again, but also couldn't help putting in the new Helbrute model and some of the old reliables, the Obliterators.

HQ:

Typhus - 230

ELITES:

Chaos Terminators [5] - 222
-Terminator Champion, Power Fist
-Mark of Nurgle, Reaper Autocannon

Helbrute - 120
-Missile Launcher, Power Scourge

TROOPS:

Plague Marines [7] - 230
-2x Plasma Gun, Power Fist
-Veterans of the Long War

Plague Marines [7] - 230
-2x Plasma Gun, Power Fist
-Veterans of the Long War

Plague Marines [7] - 220
-2x Meltagun, Power Fist
-Veterans of the Long War

Plague Zombies [20] - 90

HEAVY SUPPORT:

Obliterators [2] - 158
-Mark of Nurgle
-Veterans of the Long War

TOTAL: 1500

My main concerns are going to be anti-air and the lack of template weaponry (aside from the Obliterators), but I also wonder if I could be putting points to better use elsewhere instead of VotLW and the Helbrute. I do not yet own a Heldrake model but I doubt my friends would argue with me proxying in a HelVendetta for the time being.

Side effects of worshiping Papa Nurgle include (and are not limited to): Boils, scabs, internal bleeding, external bleeding, bleeding from the gums, eyes and ears, sweating, dehydration, furuncles, rash, pus-filled sores, nausea, vomiting, bloody vomit, black vomit, black & bloody vomit, sneezing, runny nose, dry nose, coughing, dry cough, wet cough, not-so-dry-but-still-raspy coughing, fever, hay fever, athlete's foot, athlete's arm, swimmer's ear, farmer's tongue, drowsiness, sleepiness, insomnia, mad cow disease, mad postal worker disease, loose bowels, constipation, anal leakage, and blood clotting. In most cases side effects were generally in the extreme and permanent. Consult your local cultist before worshiping Nurgle.

This list is solid for 1500, and balanced what with the terminators and hellbrute.

I'd switch the Pfists for Power Axes.

On the terminators, would probably drop the Reaper for some combi-plas.

People will probably suggest Rhinos, but I'd avoid them completely because of the nature of your list- i.e., durable footslogging units that can resist First Blood.

Looks fluffy. Kudos for not doing Epidemius (for now)

If you have a unit in a rhino and the rhino gets wrecked or blown up, does it give up First Blood?

Pretty sure- transports may be upgrades but they are still separate units!

Brofist for Brometheus - I'm probably spending way too many points on fists; the Terminators and Helbrute should have that taken care of - I'll swap the fists for axes, and most likely run the Terminators with Axes as well.

I'm gonna try out the Reaper for at least one game, given that I never really got a good chance to use it in 5th ed, but if it fails to live up to expectations I'll ditch it for some combi's or some more effective CC weaponry.

I might also look into some Nurgle Bikers, but I think I'll leave Epidemius and other Daemon friends on the sidelines for now; I'd like to try out the new codex on its own for the first few games.

Also @ Tangent, yes indeed Transports can and will give up First Blood VPs...ive learned that the hard way with some previous games with my Space Wolves :(

I used a 3 man terminator unit with a single reaper to pop rhinos in 5th ed.. Was very happy with it in that context.
