Subject: AAR: Zombie Apocalypse Game Using [Blasters and Bulkheads] Rules

Last night we hosted our 2nd annual Halloween Zombie apocalypse game at "Games Plus", our favorite FLGS (even if it is a bit out of the city) and probably one of the best gaming stores in the country.
It was a smashing success with lots of carnage, flavorful random events and even a garbage truck!. This year we used a modified version of the "Blasters and Bulkheads" ruleset. It's designed for space opera games in the vein of Star Wars, but it's mechanics for individual heroes and groups of henchmen worked great for our zombie game. I preferred "Blasters and Bulkheads" rules to the "All Things Zombie" rules we used last time. Also this year featured much terrain than last year as the previous weekend I had just finished up 4 warehouses and the GM had made some cool high-rises from mini milk-style crates.
Full AAR and lots more pictures here:

Here's some of the pics. Unfortunately we didn't get an overall pic of the entire layout. The game took place on a 6x5 board.
To see how the crate buildings were done, see this post: http://chicagoskirmish.blogspot.com/2012/10/terrain-office-buildings-and-lamp-posts.html

Looks like great fun! I think my son has a truck like the one in the last photo... maybe he won't mind loaning it to me for some zombie-killing games!

If he puts up too much of a fuss, I got it at Menards last week for 6 bucks.
Still, I say save the bucks and teach the kid a lesson that nothing is permanent and everything can be taken away in an instant!
I feel sad just writing that.

I'll just tell him that in the dark future of the 41st millenium, there are no toy trucks.... only WAR

Awesome. Child-rearing 101 folks, right here at Dakka!
In the Grim Darkness of the far future there are no children. Only Guardsmen who haven't been given a rifle yet.

Very nice Eilif, just glancing about your game board has inspired many ideas, particularly the office buildings.
The Dollar store next to my house sells little CD holders that appear to be very simular to the containers used to build the offices, so I'll be picking up a dozen or so tonight.
Very cool bat-rep, very cool board.

Very happy to be of inspiration. I couldn't find the ones in the battle report which according to my friend were from Home Depot and now OOP.
However, I did find some neat looking ones at Dollar Tree. Same height, but only 2 rows of windows instead of 3. Has a very modern look to it. They also had a sticker that suggested their use for CD and DVD storage
I did find one that was almost exactly like the ones in the batrep at "Big Lots" However I was only able to find one and the employee said they sold out at the beginning of the school year.
Still, it's two possible sources. What dollar store did you find yours at?
One other thing, I read somewhere that PVC glue (in the plumbing section of the hardware store) will work on this type of plastic. I bought some yesterday and I'll report back on how it works when I get a chance to try it out.

Found them at Dollar Tree as well, bought a dozen of them and a couple of toy cars that size up nicely, plan to head over to Dollar General this weekend to hunt up some of the toy cars you mentioned in the "Future Wars Miniature" thread.
I'm going to do a bit of " cutting and adding" with a few of the containers ( using plasticard) to try and add some variations to how they look as well as using a few for straight forward offices.
I'll be sure to post up a few pictures once I actually get a few things cobbled together.

You shouldnt.. Ive scored quite a few things from my kids. When we do a toy clear-out (usually a bit before Christmas) Ill see if theres anything in there I could put to use in gaming. Sometimes its whole figures or vehicles, sometimes just bits like a head or weapon from a lost or broken toy.
