I would consider myself an avid fan for chaos fluff, but with the new forgeworld releases, I found out something I did not know. The fact that Gorechild was one of Angron's twin chainaxes.
How did Kharn get Gorechild from? Was it a gift from Angron, if so, where is Gorefather?
It could very well have been in the HH books, and I'm forgetting.

Angron gave Gorechild to Kharn when he ascended to Daemon Primarch. Angron now only wields Gorefather.

Nada.
IIRC from AD-B's Facebook page, Kharn [now] receives Gorechild over the course of his forthcoming HH novel, Betrayer.

We're going to know quite a bit about kharn pretty soon. There's already another thread about him going on already lol. Different question though.

I'd imagine that Angron is too big for both Axes now. Also, can a Daemon Prince really have a mortal weapon?

With what we know, it's more than likely that this hasn't been true for a long time. As seen at the First War of Armageddon, he wielded an incredibly powerful Daemon Sword known as the Black Blade.
For reasons listed above, we don't know what weapon he's using now. But it can be assumed that if he wasn't using Gorefather then, he's probably not using it now.

You should really spoiler that bit.

From reading the first few HH books it is sort of implied that Kharn takes the axe from either Horus' or Angron's trophy cabinet of items they have collected through out the great crusade.
Edit: I think it is the third book just before they start killing of those loyal in the legions on Istvaan III. Khan sees the axe in the trophy collection and is admiring it and then later when he gets impaled on the landraider he has it
