So, i just started with wargaming and collecting Necrons. I'm gonna post my own wraith/annihilator centric list in the following days for some critique, but upon my research on common tactics for necrons i stumbled upon this page:
http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Warhammer_40,000/6th_Edition_Tactics/Necrons
The 'Silver Tide' army list is pretty oldschool (and that kinda "unstoppable wall of death" was what i always liked about necrons when i was a kid and wasn't really playing myself yet) and looks interesting, though i'm not sure if it'd be fun to play.
Unfortunatly they listed it as a wall of text, but i've put it into proper list form:
Spoiler:

HQ = 470
CCB 80
Overlord 90
Weave 15
Mss 15
Warscythe 10

Lord 35
Orb 30
Lord 35
Orb 30
Lord 35
Orb 30
Lord 35
Orb 30

Transport = 230
Ghost arc 115
Ghost arc 115

Troops = 1300
20 Warriors 260
20 Warriors 260
20 Warriors 260
20 Warriors 260

10 Warriors 130
10 Warriors 130

In total :
Points: 2000
Price (€) : 429€ if you buy everything in single packages from games-workshop.com

Original description:
Spoiler:
Silver Tide - Look at the cover of the old Necron Codex. Then use that as a base for your Necron army. Toss in as many Warriors as you can (140 Warriors and a two Lords with Resurrection Orbs at 2020). Then practice the time honored tactic of stand and shoot. Worked very, very well in 4th edition and was pretty much unbeatable in 3rd edition as the sheer number of gauss weapon rolls would slaughter any vehicle through glancing hits and murder any infantry through auto-wounds. In with the addition of hull points in 6th edition, the Silver Tide is back with a vengeance. Take four squads of 20 warriors, and two squads of 10. Give the squads of 20 Lords with Res. Orbs and give the squads of 10 Ghost Arks. This plus an Overlord with a Catacomb Command Barge, Warscythe, Sempiternal Weave, and Mindshackle Scarabs will give you 2000 points even. The warriors on foot will march across the board with the Ghost Arks providing fire support, mobile cover, and additional resurrections as needed. The Overlord, meanwhile, will fly around and make a nuissance of himself. Watch your opponent flip the table after being unable to get even a single warrior to stay dead.

So, what are your thoughts on this?
Effective for it's points or not?
Will the lack of tactical opportunities hurt this list or will an army of jac-of-all-trades work just fine, making it the most beginnerfriendly list possible?

Sorry if someone already copied this list over, i didn't find anything over the search function.
Also, i've already seen infantery heavy lists, but those still kinda mixed stuff up.

I would suggest taking out the 2 sets of 10 warriors and adding Nemesor Zandrekh and adding a royal court. While horde Necrons can be relatively viable they will take a beating against melee centric
armies.Zandrekh makes up for any loss of tactical advantage and can turn the tide of any battle. Imagine this, 30 ork boys charge into a group of 20 warriors. You are able to get 40 rapid fire shots + 2 lightning fields( from your new court), counter attack on the warriors (40 attacks) and you take away furious charge from the opposing ork unit. If I was the ork player I would be second guessing myself. Point is, Nemesor Zandrekh will make your list better. Add in a flyer or 2 for mobility and air presence and your army will be on its way to being a potentially strong army.

It is okay, however, think of how it would flounder against MC-heavy nids or Daemons.

I suggest taking out the two sets of 10 warrior and dropping 1 warrior from a ghost arc and take 3 Annihilation Barges.

Great point value and dish out a high number of str 7 hits.
