Arranged a game with a buddy that started off at 2k points and has steadily risen to 4k points!. Started as I proclaimed I havent lost a game against Orks since starting
40k nearly 2 months ago (I then went on to lose a game of Relic which I shouldnt have for a few reasons). At first I was going to use a mix of ranged and
CC style but that really would have been harsh on the Orks (spamming libbys with divination powers and Devastator squads). So I decided to use a fluffy
BA force consisting of all drop pod/Jump pack/Fast vehicles against a large Ork horde.
We have agreed to re roll bore draw (Emperors Will) as it wouldnt suit the narrative and would make the secondary objectives too important.

Theres a lot of orks!, and armour. I will be starting on the board with 5 man assault marine squad, Razorback and 3 preds, all will be hidden behind
LOS blocking terrain, I hope!, the first wave will be the dreads with locator beacons on the pods, I may well spilt the 10 man flamer assault marine squad and put 5 in a storm raven depending on which game we get, I will need to have some more troops in my deployment for objectives and they can deepstrike out of the storm raven without it needing to be in hoover mode. I may even use the sternguard drop pod 1st turn and leave a dread for the second turn depending on mission and deployment, as always with me I play it as I go!.
Will be starting this around 1pm GMT, Possibly wont have this bat rep up until tomorrow as I would like to add some Fluff into it and hoping to recruit someone to help note down the epic fails or wins of the game, this is my biggest game so far (I have played a 3k point
Apoc game, this isnt
Apoc just double force org) and this is my first Bat rep so please be gentle or at least use some lube...

Rolled for Mission it was a 2, Purge the Alien!. I rolled for my psyhic powers, one on Divination, and one on Biomancy, my Divination roll was a 3 which I then swapped out for Prescience, I rolled a 3 which is Endurance,
FNP, Relentless and It will not die!, yes please!. Warlord traits was rolled, I choose my Captain as my Warlord and rolled a 4 giving me one
VP for each Character slain in challenge, My opponent choose his warlord as one of the warbosses on a bike and rolled a 6 on personal making his warlord a scoring unit, pretty pointless in Purge the Alien!.
My opponent Michael got first turn and choose his table side and went first, his deployment was (left to right) Unit of grots with warboss on bike, unit of grots,
ADL with boy squad and Lootas, 2 squads of 3 killa kans behind it, in the River bed went 2 more units of killa kans, Trukk with flash gits and battle wagon with burna boys and the unit of bikers with the warboss/warlord. Then the other
ADL with another group of boys and loota squad. 2 Squads of boys were kept in reserves.
Ork deployment
Deployment for me was very simple, 4 tanks thats it. My opponent was kind enough to let me reserve everything, I had 4 squads of Assault Marines which tallies up to the 4 tanks on the table (one of which had 5 non
JP Assault marines in), I then had 5
IC's attached to squads in reserve and from what I read these are counted towards reserves seperatly?.

TURN 1
I roll to seize the intiative and fail. We then roll for the river which is Mysterious, and get a 1 which means it is nothing!, let down :(.
Things really do not start off well for the Orks, losing two bikers to dangerous terrain tests and immoblising two killa kans and a warbuggy each losing a hull point, his warlord failed a test as well but made his save!. The rest of his movement was slow when he had to make move through cover tests for the killa kans behind the
ADL. The battle wagon and trukk speed over the bridge
One of the killa kans goes to investigate the Aerotech ruin and finds a booby trap,
d6 Str 5 hits resolved on its rear armour, few dice rolls later and it is glanced to death
The Kommandos get 4 for their move through cover even with move through cover

3 war buggys zip through the Grot line towards my only units on the field!, Pretty confident he couldnt table me first turn as night fighting will add to my cover saves and there are 3 preds with AV13 and a squad in the razorback).
Shooting phase consisted of a few runs and shooting from the warbuggys at my pred next to the hill,
iirc one hit which I made the cover save for and that was that,
Now it was time for drop pod assault, One furioso dread with blood fists drop pods right next to his Battle wagon giving me a nice view of its side armour and well within Melta range, the other Blood first Furioso went down in front of his bikers with the other Furioso in between the two. I decided to drop pod the sternguard next to get use of their heavy flamers and 2 combi flamers to toast the squad in front of them
My rolling for scatter was very good so far.
Next my tanks rolled into action, the 2 preds and razorback opted to take out the kommandos as they had a power klaw lurking in there, and the last Pred moved back slightly to deny the warbuggys its side armour.
Now it was time for BBQ, I mean shooting, The drop pods snap shoot their storm bolters to little effect, but the sternguard did rather well toasting 16 boys, I used the two combi flamers and 2 heavy flamers and ignore cover save ammo for the rest of the Sternguard.
The Blood fist dread fires off its Melta gun and Magna grapple at the battle wagon, penning with both and exploading it with the melta, god bless
2d6 armour pen. The burna boys inside lose 2 to the explosion. The next dread fires off its heavy flamer across the biker Nob (which lost a wound to dangerous terrain) cooking him and two burna boys in the crater which once was the battle wagon. The other blood fist dread Cooks off one biker.
On the other side the 3 preds and Razorback take out 6 Kommandos, quite a few cover saves where made thanks to nightfighting and being in the river bed.
The last pred fails to do anything againt the war buggys

Both ork units come in from Reserves, Ork Trukk manovures to get to my Rear armour of Blood talon dread. Bikers rumble up to my Sternguard, Grots and a few other units move forward

Warphead rolls for his power and re rolls, getting a 1 and wounding himself, the nob and killing on burna boy.

Assault phase,
Kommandos fail their charge against the razorback,
Bikers lose two to terrain tests but make it into combat with the sternguard, sternguard are then wiped out by his warlord
The blood fist dread kills the Killa kan quite easily, but then gets blown up by the nob with power klaw but taking 2 burna boys with him! (leaving only 3 burna boys and warphead on one wound and nob on one wound). The Sternguard by the looks of the pictures were wiped out
So far I had lost two dreads,the Sternguard and my left flank was just nothing bar a few tanks, something needed to be done quickly!
My turn 2, Rolled for reserve rolls getting one Storm Raven in and 2 Assault marine squads in, one with Captain and Sang priest and one with flamer. Both went within 6 inches of the drop pods on the right flank and the
DC with bolters went to take care of the lootas along with the Storm Raven. The left flank was reinforced with the
DC with
BP and Chaplain and a Furioso dread with Blood talons.
The non
JP assault marine squad got out of the razorback ready to flame the kommandos, 2 preds went to take out the warbuggys
Onto Shooting, combined fire from the
DC within Rapid Fire range and the SR with rapid fire range on the hurricane bolters wiped out the lottas to nothing (was 15 lottas, and 19 deaths).
Assault marine squad with warlord and two meltas melta'd the side of the Trukk causing it to blow up and kill 3 Flash gits
5 man assault squad flamed and the razorback and pred shot the kommandos leaving 3
The other two preds and
DC combined to kill one warbuggy and glance each of the last two
The last blood talon dread kills 4 grots with a nice flame template
