I have the aobr orks, and additional boys that I nob around with . On occasion atleast, although I play BA primarily.
I have this seething obsession with wordbearers however... and a severely limited budget
Should I stay with the orks and buy the battleforce
or should I commit heresy and join the bearers of the word?

Sounds like a question only you can answer. Which do you like MORE, and plan on sticking with?

Both play fine, cost similar, and are quite cool for their own merits.

Well, I'd consider Orks and Chaos working together as allies.

I'd go with orks, no ork player has ever TRULY regretted being an ork player where as chaos players seem to regret being chaos players every 30 seconds for some new horrible injustice done to them >.>

Chaos IMO, especially if you're on a budget.

If the only thing you're looking at is price, I'd say orks. The ork battleforce is phenomenal, and it's still pretty easy to get AoBR models. Plus, orks are the ultimate poor man's army as basically everything in the codex can be built out of plasticard and boxes of boyz.

Meanwhile, CSM comes with a more questionable battleforce (possessed and bikes in the same army? Not terribly likely). Likewise, it has the new starter box, but said box is likewise pretty disjointed. Unless you know you're going to want chosen and cultists in the same army (much less the other stuff), then you're probably going to be paying for minis you're not really going to be using.

Plus, you've already got experience with orks. Unless you've got well-defined reasons to jump CSM for orks (like I have had to make that jump in the reverse direction recently), then I'd just stick with what you've already got going.

I feel like I'm leaning towards orks... I still love the wordbearers in all their heretical lunacy.. but orks make me laugh, and are still formidable. Still undecided however

I was thinking how hoardy it could be. 6 Troops from Orks, so that's 180 Orks if my ork math is right. Then another 2 troops from Chaos. That's an additional 70 Cultists. . .

In scoring units it's 250 models.

I'd normally say chaos, since they actually have a slightly more varied feel in my opinion, especially in the new codex where they can now do massive hordes too.

That being said, if you already have a MeQ army, you should go orks. They play completely different, and are extremely fun.

Everybody must have a large WAAAGH!. It's in the rulebook, you just have to grab the words from different pages and using a glue stick to put it all together.

Chaos is very AOTM right now, with the new dex and all, so I would give it a little time to calm down before jumping on the big red heresy wagon. Plus, there should be a cultists box coming out in the relatively near future, so wait for that at least.

The current ork codex has aged like fine cheese, still awesome, just a slightly different flavor than last year. The switch to 6th does force you to change tactics a little, but it is overall a good thing. Use this opportunity to try new things with the orks and see where it takes you. Worst case, you have a blast getting your teef kicked in. Best case, you have a blast doing the kicking.
