So I had an idea for a Necron/Chaos Space Marine allies army. I play Chaos, but I have a few Necrons and have been wanting to collect more. I've been working on several Chaos list with Necron allies, but haven't found anything I really like. That's when I thought of making a Necrons list with CSM allies, but most of the points would be invested in to the CSM side. I don't have a specific list yet but I want this to be my allied CSM:

Lord Zhufor
Terminator Squad with Land Raider Transport (for Berzerkers)
2 Berzerker Squads
Chaos Storm Eagle (for Zhufor and Terminators)
Land Raider

That will run some where between 1500-1750pts depending on the unit size and upgrades. From here I'm not sure what I will use on my Necrons side of the army, I have never played them and am not familiar with them. I was thinking 2 big blobs of warriors, each lead by a Lord with Resurrection Orb? Or maybe I can add some fliers? Doom Scythes and Immortals in Night Scythes, only thing is that can get expensive.

Thoughts?

if you run necrons as allies I would look to the following:

Necron lord, Warscythe, Barge

5 Warriors, cryptek of the Storm/Nightscythe
5 Warriors, cryptek of the Storm/Nightscythe

Annibarge

And add following:

Zufhor/ Abbadon
Beserker terminators with combimeltas
Storm Eagle (but this is dangerous, as you cant assault the turn you come in), maybe dreadclaw (but this also comes with deepstrike, so not sure if you can assault the turn it comes in...) Landraider

I want to run it the other way around though, I can fit everything I want from the CSM codex in to an allies detachment and want to fill the primary detachment up with Necrons. The list you gave me is something I had in mind, although I was thinking 2 Overlords on CC Barge, a few Warrior Squads in Nightscythes, and maybe a Deathmark Squad in Nightscythe (mainly because I already have a Deathmark Squad). What would you recommend?

Chaos Androids sounds like an awesome idea actually, either take them for good flyers and stuff or big phalanxes with res orb and ghost arc to screen your other stuff while shooting things up.

Is 5 the standard size for Warrior Squads in Nightscythes or would they benefit from larger squad sizes? Blobs of warriors was my original idea, but I think I want to take advantage of Necron fliers. Are Immortals worth the extra points for the better gun and 3+ armour save?

If you're looking for ideas on what's good to take in a Necron list, you should look around the 40k Army Lists section. There are heaps of great examples in the lists and lots of good advice in the replies.

Do you want to run 2 Overlords on CCBs to get access to additional crypteks? If not, I would suggest swapping one for a Destroyer Lord who is absolutely lethal leading anything from a unit of Wraiths to a squad of Immortals. His ability to tank hits and grant the squad preferred enemy is hard to beat.

I have looked in the Army List section and have a good idea of basic Necron lists, but I'm wondering what people think will work well with what I have here in my CSM allies. Destroyer Lord is a beast, but I feel I have plenty of CC in the form of all my Khorne units. I would probably benefit more from the extra Crypteks. Even if I decide to go with blobs of Warriors, 2 Overlords will allow me to give each squad of Warriors a Cryptek and a Lord with Resurrection Orb correct?
