I recently played my first ever game at the weekend an came across this little problem. I used a unit of wraiths with coils with a dlord with mms, the problem was mms hit but the affected model was dead before anything happened due to coils letting me hit first.

Is there something im missing on this or is it something ill just have to accept??

Just the way it is. A friend of mine uses a lord with MSS as a charge repellent in less assaulty units than Wraiths. It's extremely effective. In my experience, his Wraiths don't need the help.

Am thinking now of removing mms and spending the points elsewhere?? but im also thinking leave it on to discourage challenges?

I don't think he'll need them. I imagine he's already going to be holding his own in combat, and rocking around with Wraiths is going to make for a pretty brutal unit. Personally, I'd say spend the points elsewhere.

Well, if the DLord is in a challenge, whip coils will not affect his opponent. So I'd keep MSS and whip coils (but only for each 2nd Wraith).

I can see the bonus of both suggestions. mms was wasted when playing my ork opponent but whilst playing my nids friends it was all i needed to scare his swarmlord into keeping his distance :-)

Heh, yeah, it's definitely good for that. My friend's Lord had my DE Archon running away from him like a Benny Hill sketch.

Hahahaha quality!!

for that alone i think ill keep it on!!

When i played my friends orks i marked his warboss with my deathmarks and put my dlord an wraiths behind them for a counter charge an he gave up that side of the board. Then simply set up a gunline on the other and mopped up.

point being people fear these so much you can heard them like cattle :-)

Yup, definitely a viable and fun tactic. Those poor Orks are going to have a rough time of it, I think.
