Got a couple of relatively simple questions, I just need a second opinion (or third, or fourth...) before this comes up in my next game, as we don't have a resident rules lawyer over here.

First of all:
Is it legal to deploy your Flying Monstrous Creature on the board (in glide mode), then in the movemovement phase switch to swoop? I can't see any reason why not, but I need to clarify this before I pull it on my brother, who may not take it kindly if I don't have a strong argument to back it up.

Secondly:
If you deepstrike a FMC in swoop mode, does it then take a deepstrike mishap if it lands on impassable terrain or enemy models? I'm inclined to say no, but not so sure on this one.

Sorry if the answers are incredibly obvious, but for me the rules seem a little shady in these areas and I'd appreciate some clarification.

The rules for Flying MCs state that at the beginning of your move you can opt to Glide or Swoop. You make this choice at the beginning of all of your Movement Phase moves with that unit.

It is my understanding that scattering into impassable terrain or enemy units will cause a mishap, but I don't have my rulebook with me to check.

You enter swooping when DS, so ignore any terrain - i dont believe you would take any mishap for that. However i do believe models will cause a mishap, but cannot check books.

For impassable terrain read through what a Swooping MC gives you in terms of terrain - this xref to the DS rules will tell you what effect impassable terrain has on swooping MCs

When DS , if the FMC scatters on anothe model or within 1 inch of an enemy model, it is a mishap.
