Hey all,

this is my first attempt at a DE list, the core is going to be based around 2 Battleforces, mainly to help with costs, but open to suggestions really, Havent actually bought any of this yet (Apart from one warrior squad and 3 reavers on the paint bench left over from a previous battleforce purchase, that was then sold off bit by bit until I realised I wanted to play DE after all )
This will be the first army I've played in over 8 years, not the easiest to re-learn with, but I like the idea of a challenge.

Without further ado.

HQ

Archon:
Shadowfield
Huskblade
Combat Drugs
Phantasm GL
Total: 160

3 Heamonculi
3 x Liquifier
3 x Venom blade
Total: 95

Elites

4 Inubi
Venom
Splinter Cannon
Total 153

Troops

2 x 10 Kabalite Warriors
Blaster
Splinter cannon
Sybarite
Raider
Night shields
Total: 195 each

2 x 10 Wych Squads
Haywires
Hekatrix
Venom Blade
Raider
Nightshields
Total: 195 each

Fast Attack

9 Reavers
3 Heatlances
Total: 234

10 Hellions
Helliarch
Stunclaw
Total: 175

Heavy Support

2 x Ravager
Nightshields
Total: 115 Each

1847pts total

I was planning on sticking the Archon with the incubi and have them seek out challenges/targets of opportunity after the wyches fly upfield and tie up the enemy.
Haemonculi will be spread around to different units as needed, which will probably mean I'll need to drop a wych from each squad to fit them in. Then someone somewhere else.

Hellions are 50/50 at the mo as to whether I really want them in, considering replacing with scourges with haywire blasters for a bit more anti tank punch, although there are 10 DL, and 3 heat lances plus the haywire grenades in the wych squads?

All help and advice is really appreciated, tear it apart, suggest new options, I really want to hear your thoughts.

Cheers

I'd suggest is flickerfields on the Ravagers and Raiders. You might also want to look at just using two 5 man units of Haywire wyches in venoms instead of the ten man squads.

Also, where will you put the three haemonculi that you have? You have no space for them. You should also bring up your Lance count. A popular guideline is 1 darklight weapon for every 100 pts. You can go more or less depending on how many mech lists you face. Cutting out the hellions would allow you to buy 4x Trueborn with Blasters in a venom, which would bring up your lance count. You could probably fit in two squads if you cut out the hellions and dropped the Wych units down to 2x 5 man squads.

Hey virx67,

I was thinking flickerfields originally, but i'd been reading some threads about nightfields being quite a popular option now, especially with a lot of the 6th edition missions having the chance of night fighting. I'll give it some serious thought though, although they're both 10 points to I can pick and choose.

On the haemonculi side, I'd thought about going 2 squads of 9 wyches, so I can put him in there, even if he's quickly detached giving them the pain token before they go off. Could always drop the third haemy, or have him with a foot slogging warrior unit, set them up in cover and make themselves a nuisance with a DL?

I do like the idea of the 5 wych venoms, although Still have the same problem of where to put the Haemonculi. Hmm will need some thought. Good call on the blasterborn too. I think at the moment the 9 reavers are soaking up a fair amount of points too.

I need to get up to my local FLGS this weekend or next and check out the kind of lists i'm likely to be facing. I've set myself an ambitious target with this army, I have 2 weeks holiday from work from next week, and want to get enough of a force painted and ready to go for at least a couple of games before christmas. Maybe I should be working on 500, 1000 and 1500 lists too to see how I can break it all down.

I think your points are off on the Haemonculi; it should be 195 pts for all three instead of 95. An option would be to just take one, put 5 Incubi in a raider with the Archon and Haemonculi, and then send it at whatever you want. Flickerfields are nice because you get an invunerable save, so if you have points to blow, I'd get those and night shields. Your choice. Personally, I wouldn't field Wych squads that large, but your mileage may vary.

Oops yeah, my bad.
I did a few tweaks and if i go with what you suggested and drop the wych squads down to five and stick in venoms + remove the hellions + 2 haemie, I can gett another Kabalite squad (no raider) and the blasterborn in venom. Hmmmm tempting. If I have the points I'll roll with both shields, although they now have the 5+ jink cover save so I shall do some experimenting and see what works on the field.

One of the problems I'm facing is that the DE codex just has so much nice stuff it's hard to get it all in. Shame. It will grow a lot over time so I will probably end up with lots of combos to experiment with.

Cheers for the advice so far, been really helpful!

Hey dude

I agree with the above and my only other suggestion is that you may want to consider investing in beasts. You could convert some of the hellions into beastmasters and maybe the baron too. Beasts are really de all-around unit for cc and are one of the few who can take a hit. Hope I helped and I wish you best of luck!
