So this is my first post on this forum. Hi. I've lurked around this forum before and looked at some of the great stuff, but I never got around to registering, right up until today. The last two forums I posted on are pretty much dead to me, one of which has locked me out with a broken recover password system and the other has less activity than the light side of the moon.

Anyway, I thought I'd start off by introducing myself with my Space Marines Chapter that pretty much kickstarted the hobby for me, and grew and grew until well... this time last year I reached about 10,000 pts and stopped counting at that point. Funnily enough this time last year was the first time I actually tried the gaming aspect of the hobby. I started with a Mega Force 5 years ago and over 3 years I steadily got more stuff, but most of the time my models did nothing but collect dust, right up until I tried a practise game at my local GW store. I spent most of my time up until recently playing weekly there, and after a few months I went to a "Triple Crown" doubles tournament at Nottingham (3 teams composed of people from 3 different GW stores) and we did pretty well, coming 5th in the rankings out of 30 overall and getting the highest score out of all the teams from our area.

So my Space Marine army is big. In hindsight, I probably could have (read: should have) just made 3 3000 pt armies, but I'm pretty attached to my Marines and I couldn't bring myself to sell them. Its a bit late at the time I've posted this thread, so here's a few pictures I've got crawling around on my photobucket account.

So there is the overview of most of what I have, not including my recent Tartaros Terminators,Sternguard, and Storm Raven. Chances are you weren't blinded by any of the (what I would like to think are) good paint jobs, but instead the fact that uh... almost every single one doesn't have a base. I've only ever touched bases with my Guard. I will get back to that.

Some shots of a month old Sternguard project. I've made 5, the parts are from Scibor Minatures and the Heavy Flamer comes from the Tartaros Terminators.

The Tartaros Terminator sergeant I'm working on. Notes here: extreme highlights scare the pants off me. Most of the shades I've tried on the armour haven't really done anything, although drybrushing metal on one of my Terminators seemed to look pretty good. And I have no idea how to do lightning effects on the sword.

This is one of my favourite models I picked up this year. The pose came out a bit too idle but that's because I hastily jumped into it with the Super Glue. Thankfully its a lesson that wasn't as painful as it could have been. Its one of the only based models in my collection, along with the Tartaros Terminators. Simply put, I only have like 20 or so of the metal floor bases, so I've used them sparingly. The above 3 sets are at most 3 months old, whereas the overview pictures are about 6-8 months old. You can see there's a Black Templars codex in the background- I used to play them up until the recent RZ nerf and a revelation that hit me round the head- I have a lot of Rhino's/Razorbacks and I never used them, which C:SM utilize better.

I've got more pictures, but the rest are a bit too out of date and I'd rather show some better set up and newer stuff.

Regardless, things I need to do/need help with from you guys:

1)Bases. Really I'd like to do a ruined city style theme with some black/grey rubble and various things, but ideally I would not like the materials to cost too much as I've always got other things in my head I'd like to have.
2)I need to update the *really* old stuff so I can bear using them. This probably won't include stockfit Marines from boxes like AOBR, I detest using them.
3)I need to practise and do some better freehand on the backpack banners. At the moment the army wide design is plain white, and a red Omega Symbol in the center, possibly with a red border.
4)Flesh out my fast attack element. At the moment I rarely, if ever use my bikes, land speeders and assault marines. Not sure how to add to them, and I'm not entirely opposed to getting other Marine codexes either.

Finally I would love to hear what the community here thinks, and I'm open to any comments, critescisms and suggestions.

If there turns out to be any interest I might post the other armies I've got in this thread.
