This may not be the greatest list but I've found ahriman too fun/infiltrating oblits and such too useful to put him down. Doubt he's the most competitive HQ I could break out there, however here goes.
HQ
Ahriman (230)

Troops
8 Thousand Sons, Rhino (254)
10 CSM Vets, Dual Plasmagun, Rhino (215)
10 CSM Vets, Dual Plasmagun (180)

Fast Attack
2 Helldrakes w/Baleflamer (170 ea/340 total)

Heavy Support
2 Predators with TL-LC, LC Sponsons (140 each, 280 total)

Total Points: 1499

I found it really hard to cover all my bases with pure thousand sons so I tossed in one squad of them with ahriman in a rhino, probably for midfield alongside the other rhino squad, last squad holding an objective or infiltrated as needed. Predators exist to put 6 lascannons down range and can be swapped with 2x2 Oblit squads unmarked but I really want the AV 13 armor in the backline. Helldrakes are my jack of all trades. May use hades autocannons if I expect to be going air to air exclusively but I doubt it would work all that good unless I could alphastrike say a vendetta a piece with them or something equally hilarious. I intend to mainly play at my FLGS but I want to grow into being a competitive player. 230 point HQs may not be a part of that but honestly, dropping 3 biomancy powers/the occasional doombolt or breath of chaos is pretty fun when it works out right.

Great.

I love how the predators were 165 in the last codex for that setup.

Yeah, I thought 150 points for a AC/LC sponsons predator with a havoc launcher wasn't bad. 140 for a pure LC loadout is a steal imo and the old loadout I ran is even better points value wise. Also Brometheus your Ahriman Tactica is pretty awesome, do you have any general tips on running 1ksons themed armies and keeping them effective?

Thanks, dude. Well.. I guess if I had one tip it would be to remember that if you Infiltrate Ahriman (which you should, or else it's a waste of 230 points) with any unit, it needs to be a unit that is large enough to survive if the enemy gets the first turn. It's impossible to be within 12" range for Rapid Fire and for the most power psychic powers in your first turn after infiltrating unless you have a transport or your enemy is not smart and walks towards your Infiltrators.

To keep Tsons themed armies running best, they need support elements that are less than 200pts and are taken in pairs. You've clearly done that, with 2x drakes and 2x preds. that's a fine support element, no doubt. The best thing about this sort of list is that you can lose both your fast attack choices and still operate. The same with if you lose both your preds.
