So lately there have been alot of comps on some of the web sites and it has helped spur me into painting more. Here is my Hell Pit that I started on a year ago but now is finished.

Enjoy!!

I really like the leathery texture on the skin; it looks very intimidating. Might one problem with the model is that the cables look flat. Overall, great piece.

I have to second the bit about the cables. Other than that it is an epic work.

I absolutely love it. The best paintjob on a hellpit abomination that I have seen. You really brought it to life.

Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee.

That is nice!, But i'd suggest adding "power" to those cables, Wouldnt take much and would add alot more depth to the model.

Wondering Why the Emperor Left

Fantastic model! What technique did you use for the skin? I'm going to guess some sort of advanced drybrushing method? I have no idea what I'm talking about...anyway, keep up the great work!

Cheers

The mottled, sickening scheme make this the most frightening example of a HPA I've ever seen. Nightmarish and awesome.

It's spelled "cavalry." NOT "calvary."

Looks good, overall. The color selection and placement on the skin is great, but I disagree about the finish - I don't see leathery texture, I see slightly chalky drybrushing (reinforced by the similarity in finish to the warpstone spikes/fire and the ruined arch on the base). A thin, transparent glaze (I use moderately dilute inks or slightly thinned premixed washes) would help sort that out without seriously altering the colors, if you were so inclined. The rubble beneath the arch on the base is also less than convincing. A layer of sand or sparser chunks of fine gravel/ground sprue would help give it some proper texture, so that it looks like individual pieces of debris instead of a single pockmarked mass.

Again, though, it's an attractive (perhaps that isn't the best word, in this case ) model, even with those criticisms.

Thanks all. The skin is actually 8 different colors. Yes it is mostly drybrushed . The other things have anywhere from 4-8 colors and inks/washes. The base, well I mix different balsasts and then sprinkle on, thinking about adding some grass and some bigger rocks. But with the amount of hours I put in already, I'm gonna wait for another charge to do that.

To Gunslinger. I started with black primer and drybrushed him red to medium pink to light pink then a red wash followed by a flesh wash to a redish brown drybrush mixed in a little white to that color and did 3 consecutively lighter coats. Was trying for an dirty grub worm kinda look on his skin and wanted each rat to have their own colors. Didn't want to stick to GW idea of warp stone but tried other color combos and didn't like them.

To oadie, I see you know your painting techniques, that is great. Thanks for the ctitique.
