I plan to use a Librarian with Gate of Infinity with a Stern Guard squad in a upcoming game.
As I have a habit of rolling lousy numbers when it counts , I'm nervous about losing them in a Deep Striking/ Teleporting mishap.

Is the payoff well worth the risk of losing expensive units in a scatter roll mishap? Are my concerns for a mishap exaggerated?

"All right, sweethearts, what are you waiting for? Breakfast in bed? Another glorious day in the Corps! A day in the Marine Corps is like a day on the farm. Every meal's a banquet! Every paycheck a fortune! Every formation a parade! I LOVE the Corps!" ---Sgt. Apone

"I say we take off, and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure."-----Ripley

It's a risk. Just like plasma, vengeance rounds, and a lot of other things. It's a risk well worth taking, IMHO. If it does bother you, there is a way to mitigate it: locator beacons. They work for all your deep strike (unlike teleport homers which just work with terminators) The two easy ways to get them are in drop pods and scout bikers. Use them to set up little safe islands to land in. The pods make for good static points, while the scouts can zip around to where you need them.

My scatter die hates me, and tries to kill me whenever it can. And I still use a librarian to port around a full squad of sternguard.

Little off topic, but can I use GoI on a SM libby and use it to teleport allied BA's?

Yes, as battle brother you can join the unit with no ill effects. It's the same way you can cast prescience on a C:SM squad from a runs priest that has joined the squad.
