They are really front heavy and keep falling forward. Easy ways to counterbalance them other than gluing rocks to the base?

A penny under their base does wonders, or a small washer.

i found a washer that was the exact size ot the base and all my gants have the bases with these washers. it makes them not fall over and lets me magnet them to my toolbo for transport

Most aren't too bad. The bad Hormagaunts (basically any on the leaping forward torso with outstretched arms) I simply put a few rocks around their feet (which is usually the most far back on the base you can go) to counter balance it.

Personally I prefer ones that are smaller so they fit inside the base instead of on the bottom. I feel like it ruins the look and adds a bit of height (albeit not much, but still enough to throw it off for me).

In my experience, rocks on the base, shotgun shot in the base, or making the gaunt stand taller all work to balance them. Either way, they are always going to act like a barrel of monkeys...

Not all bodies tip over. With those, I glue at least one arm so that it touches the ground, no more tipping.

Since Hormagaunts are usually mounted on slotted bases it can be tought to find the right thing to help weigh them down. I have used a penny cut in half for the base. It's cheap and you can use 1 penny for two bases if you cut them right.

I do a lot of conversion so I use sculpy mixed with powered iron then heated into the base however this may not be cost effective. If you have a pair of tin snips, cut a penny in half and it should fit in the slotted base

What about some fishing sinkers? If you go to the fishing section of a supermarket you'll find tackle boxes with various sized sinkers. Perhaps you can hammer them flat and then just stick them in with some superglue or similar?

I never got around to weighing down my hormagaunts, if you assemble them carefully you can avoid the toppling by making sure any lunging bodies have their arms backward rather than up or forward. But still I'd like to weigh them down, even though they don't topple on flat surfaces they're very inconvenient as it makes them more annoying when they fall over with the slightest provocation.

cut them from the slot lip and glue them on a base a bit further back

I have found that gluing more amounts of scenery to the back i.e Rocks, skulls etc. works wonders. But if your on a budget cut up a few old pennies you can use at least one penny for four models if you position it well

This ... This is what I do for all my bases . Snip the fishing sinkers in half then hammer them flat . Super glue them underneath base arranging to fit ( and ensure a flat surface ) .
Just finished doing 24 termagaunts and 12 hormagaunts this evening using this method .

what I foundj works the best?

when assembling, weight the base. Glue the arms on, and let them sink down towards the ground. IF you have at least one arm stabbing the table, then you have something to prop the model up. Something makes me suspicious this is how it was intended to be built, because I can't see any other rational way to balance the things.

Alternatively, if you don't play in tournaments, or at a GW, then get the bugs from defiance games. They look to be right decent hormagaunts to my eyes, and they're centered on the base rather than over the edge of it.
