ok... so me and my friend are doing a friendly doubles tournament in 6 weeks...

we have decided to do Dark Eldar (me) allied with Chaos (him)

it is 600 points per person, no points allowed to swap over that sorta thing.

here are the lists we've come up with so far:

CHAOS

9 chaos marines 127

lord with mok, bike 95

3 bikers with mok 76

FLAKK SUCKS...anyways moving on from that. You might want to take a unit of cultists as a back of the board objective camper, and as i said before, flakk is a terrible point sink, you'd be better off going with 3 autocannons and a Lascannon, you should still be able to hit something flying with that and you'd be able to deal with hordes and up to AV12 reliably. You don't have any transports unlike your ally and since his vehicles are all low AV you shouldn't worry about yours being low AV either, get some Rhinos , take maybe 5 nurgle bikers being a tarpit unit, make sure you give your Marines some heavy weapons incase they come up against something scary like a nid Monster. And for more flexibility give your lord a claw and a power axe, get that AP2 or the AP3 with shred, get a powerfist for anti AV if you have extra points. so it'll be something like this:

HQ: Lord with Claw+Axe (95)

Troops: Cultists (50)
7CSM w/ pistol and CCW (115)

FA: 5 Nurlge Bikers w/ 2 Meltas (160)

Heavy: Havocs w/ 2 Autocannons, 1 Missile Launcher and 1 Lascannon (130)


In terms of the DE i'm not sure which one I like better but make sure the wyches have haywire grenades, don't give the trueborn shardcarbines you get way too close to the enemies with only a 18" range. Incubi are awesome, do what you will

lol just saying, i'm the DE, he is chaos marines

i think i might suggest to him that he should take 10 cultists and an aegis... 2+ cover saves are awesome

he hasn't actualy replied to my 'try these lists' so I don't actualy know if he likes either of these... He has experience, this is my first ever doubles tournament. apparently the highest armour you ever see is 13 on vindicators... and if i have blasters or haywire grenades, then i can take them out easily...

when we started, we designated him as anti-armour, and me as mostly anti-infantry, so it was his idea to have missile havocs.
the nurgle bikers is a good idea, methinks that we will go for something like that... My other idea, is to take out 1 of the extra splinter cannons, and have 3 units of 5 wyches, instead of 2 units of 5 kabalites. Then i could probably get a couple of units in combat on turn 1... which would be nice

since they can only overwatch 1 unit (per unit) i could put 2 units on each enemy unit, and then at least one should get in un-injured...

move 12" disembark 6" shoot with venoms and pistols charge 6" (minimum) with fleet on all of my units

so that would be (dark eldar):

Personally I think it's all about the kabalites over the wyches, I won't be taking any wyches until I can take so many to be able to follow my warriors as a supporting unit... I see overwatch as too much of a risk for our lightly armoured, low number cc specialists.

if i take averages (which means that I am against a 10 man squad of marines)

venom fire (18 shots, +2 twin linked shots) will kill 2 and the wyches (two units - 10 shots) will kill 1 more

overwatch will do the following:

flamer - kills 1
missile - nothing
bolters & pistols - kills 1 more

total, 2 dead, 2 units of wyches in combat
7vs7, and wyches are combat oriented

so AVERAGES is ok... but if said marines are in a transport, everything changes xD

if only i could get a dirge caster on my raiders - csm upgrade, enemy units within 6" cannot fire overwatch... mind you, i would have to get within 6"

EDIT: wow... if he takes rhinos, and they have dirge casters, he can deploy them sideways, pivot (+1" or 2) move 12" flat out 6" and any units deployed 12" on near to the rhino cant overwatch
