Hello dakka !

So i've recently picked up the game again, and as it is I am going mental and plotting thousands of scenarios and stories. That led me to the question, what is my favorite type of scenario ?
Frankly, siege battles have always done it for me. I LOVE siege battles.
Some of my best childhood memories are of me and 3 of my mates playing ridiculously sized sieges, with a 300 point advantage for the attacker. I still remember when my rohirim counter charged when the geat was battered opene, how a single elfe held of 4 easterlings over the gate house for 4 turns, how an uruk crossbowman tallied over 15 kills. Good times.

What's your favorite scenario and experience in Lotr ?

Dains last stand(invented)
1500pts evil, usually mordor, moria and easterlings(all casualties come back on from the board edge)
800pts dwarves
400pts men(allies from dale)
A large gate with a few overlooking towers either side, inside is a network of tunnels and cramped passageways leading to a throneroom that Dain is in, Dain must survive as long as possible.
Takes a long time but it is really fun.

3 hobbit movies! Looks like Peter Jackson did a George Lucas.

Here are my best:

Hunt the Hobbit:

4 Players, each in a corner of the board. Each gets an equal number of points for an offensive force and a defensive force.

Each castle as a Hobbit in it (This is essentially a stuffed hobbit, it can only be carried).

Each player has to try and sack the opposing castle (flowing clockwise usually), and defend from the attack on your own.

First to get a hobbit back to base wins!

Favorite Moment:

Last Alliance Battle:

I'm playing Evil (Sauron and some other gubbinz), and 2 of my friends are good (Elves and Men).

Sauron goes around killing EVERYBODY. Gil Galad dies last out of all the heroes.

4 good guys left - Just basic grunts (I think this will be easy).

1 manages to pass courage, charge Sauron, stab him, and take the last wound, costing me the game

for looks, I've always liked seige battles, plus they always seem to come up with the luckiest scenarios- like when I had one dwarf hold a gateway from six easterlings for three turns straight so my heroes could take on enemies piecemeal, though to play, probably just open war with small objectives (like king of the hill)- last time I played a game of that, I had an iron shield from a vault warden team hold a narrow passage between two buildings alone from (at the same time) a cave troll and four uruk-hai for four turns, then another two once a captain, beserker and isenguard troll charged in. Bought enough time for my hero and his only other surviving model to force a draw on objectives.

JB: I like the concept of a free Shrike roaming through the treetops of the jungle. I'm not sure that I like the idea of a real Shrike sitting on my couch eating my Skittles.
corpsesarefun: Thank god I missed be nice to shrike day.
greenskin lynn: because of all the skittles and soda, you basically live off sugar water, like some sort of freakish human-hummingbird hybrid.

Okay, so a couple of days ago, 4 of us got bored and got two hobbits each and fought a four-way fight. When the first player died, one of us decided it would be funny to give him a troll. Believe it or not, one guy with a bat managed to survive four turns of combat and inflict two wounds before dying, and the last hobbit manged to shoot it the turn after

Favourite Scenario: I never really played them - me and my friends never had enough to play a scenario from the movies and we were too lazy to make one up.

Favourite Moment: My Goblins swarming Elessar and murdering him and his horse. MWAHAHAHAHA!

Another one of my favorites was a game of Battle Companies against some Elves. We put a graveyard in the middle of the board and to cross, each model had to pass a courage test. It was, for the majority, just some Uruks and Elves shouting across a graveyard...

My EAsterlings routing two Mordor armies( Yes I know we are supposedto be on the same side. But I was never one for serving evil overlords who likes jewelry!).

My Kataprakts and Easterlings left a field coverd in Orc bodies and those of Trolls and foul Haradrim

One of my favourite scenarios and experiences was playing the atack on Amon Hen scenario that was published in one of the WD's,
the one where you play in two parts, the first to determine when Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli arrive to assist Boromir and the Hobbits
in the second half. I was playing the evil side, my brother the good. After holding up the arrival of the three heroes untill turn 5, i managed
to bog down Boromir with (many, many) Uruk Hai, finally killing him only to have Lurtz killed about 2 turns later by Pippin in single combat.
My bro still doesn't let me live that down.

My other favourite scenario was Helms deep, the one where the evil side has 10, 000 Uruk Hai, represented by the fact that every time one
is killed, it comes back in play from the evil sides table edge the following turn, against 300 warriors of rohan, and 100 elves or something like that.
Took us all day to play between myself, bro, and two cousins. Even had Aragorn and Gimli outside the gate on the courseway
killing anything that tried to pass just to keep true to the films/books.

Ol' Blighty

So, I've just finished playing a game of LOTR SBG between basically all my dwarves against all my men and elves (about 50 models a side, but mostly consisting of heroes)
Ended up with my king's champion vs gandalf, radagast, elrond, elladan, elrohir, glorfindel, legolas, 6 ranger of the north cavalrymen, 11 rangers of arnor and bilbo.
I then meatshielded my heralds to let the champion face elladan, then elrond, then elrohir, one-on-one, killing each of them. The heralds managed to down glorfindel before they finally got killed and the champion got surrounded by gandalf, radagast, legolas, 2 ranger cavalrymen and 3 rangers. The champion won, then killed legolas, meaning he was the only model with a fight equal to the champion, who then went on a spree of 6's to win fights, and basically killed everyone else
though he was on his last legs- no will, might, fate left and one wound remaining.

Probably the luckiest game I've ever had in LotR, and no one was around to see it :(
