Just a quick one. If you move into base to base with your opponents quad gun and he has nobody in base to base.....can you fire it as normal?

My stormtroopers secured one a while back and I ended up using it to shoot at my opponent......correct?

Yes, the Quadgun is actually a neutral model. Anyone in BtB can fire it.

Took one over last night with my Orks and used it against my opponent. Nothing wrong with that.

I actually didn't know this. Thanks.

For reference, where in the BRB is that?

What if both players have a model in BtB? Do they both get to shoot it, or does no one get to shoot it?

Yep both. Jetbikes grabbing a quad gun and using it to clear enemy models off the quad gun is hilarious. Remember you must stay 1" away from enemy models though.

A little off topic but something that happened on one of my last games, if the gun is destroyed does it gives a victory point on the purge the alien mission? I say no as the gun is a neutral model, my opponent said yes because i purchased that unit. (at the end we rolled a die)

No VPs, or first blood for that matter. This is because of the wording of both rules and the neutral nature of the gun.

Wrong, it actually counts.

First blood says "The first unit of any kind to be removed as a casuality..."

Gun Emplacements are a model, and thus are a unit. And the requirement doesn't require it to be an enemy unit.

It is however not actually mine, assuming that FB hasn't been achieved yet and somehow my opponent gets control of it... if i try to blew it up i'll give him first blood by destroying my own unit?, in that same logic if it's mine it shouldn't be able to use it

Is it a unit, or battlefield debris (thus making it terrain)?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

The Gun Emplacement fits the criteria for a unit, as well as Battlefield Debris. Odd isn't it

Interesting way to nullify FB if you don't think you can achieve it. Hmm.

On the topic of the Quad Gun, can it fire automatically (at BS 2) or does it need a model standing next to it to fire.

This has come up several times in my play group.

Gun Emplacements cannot fire on their own.

Only Emplaced Weapons can.

They really needed to come up with a different name for one of those two, I can where the confusion came from.

Thanks, this is what I understood as well after reading the rules a bit, just wanted to make sure.

The Quad gun is a gun emplacement. It cannot fire on it's own. pg 105 BGB

The Emplaced Weapons of lets say Fortress of Redemption however can. Pg96.BGB
