Hi, there is a point I am not quite clear :

What happens if a hive guard hits a unit that have stealth or shrouded special rule ? does it still benefit the cover improvement from stealthshrouded ?
Let's say the unit hides behind cover and lose it because the impaler cannon ignores it, in that case, the stealth rule still gives it 6+, is that right ?
Or a Tau vehicule ( with D-pod+more than 12 " away for example), it will still have 4+ ?

thx

Nope. Impaler cannons ignore cover saves always.
They'd just eat the shots.
Same thing applies to flyers

Using both FAQ's I can find I'd say no.

Q: Can a model take a cover save from wargear such as smoke
launchers or an Ork Mekboy’s kustom force field against shooting
attacks made by Hive Guard impaler cannons? (p47)
A: No.

Q: Can a model take a cover save from the Jink special rule against
shooting attacks made by Hive Guard impaler cannons? (p47)
A: No.

The impaler cannon only ignores certain Cover saves. If the model would get a cover save against the Impaler cannon (in area terrain, or touching terrain between HG and target) then the target will benefit from the improved Stealth/Shrouded cover saves.

Incorrect; they ignore cover saves that arent generated by terrain

If the model is in area terrain. If the model is touching Terrain that is blocking LOS from the HG.

IIRC both these apply, and the FAQ's are pertinent as well.

iGuy91 - if you are in area terrain, or are touching terrain that is between you and the hive guard. So standing in a forest would give you a cover save

They ignores Steah and Shrouded when its just those 2 rules OR the particular cover save is ignored.

So being in the open will be ignored, as will an improved Jink save.

However a unit standing in a forest will benifit from the save.

**The Impaler Cannon can shoot any target in range, regardless of whether there is line of sight to it or not. The target can only count the benefits of cover they are in or touching if it lies between them and the Hive Guard. Vehicles are always hit on the armor value facing the Hive Guard.

Note the bold. The target must be in or touching cover that lies between the HG and the target. Smoke, Jink, KFF, Stealth, Shrouded, etc... to not give cover saves vs an Impaler Cannon unless the bolded rule is met.
