Subject: Having trouble understanding Tau codex wording...
In Commander Farsight's Special Rule "Break away faction" It says "Crisis Battlesuits Count as 1+ Units in the same way as Fire Warriors..." What does that mean exactly?

It means exactly what it says, you must have at least one unit of crisis suits in your list for it to be legal.
Also, wrong forum.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

As above. Tau Firewarriors are "1+", meaning you must have at least one unit of them. Making crisis suits +1 means the same - you must have at lesat one unit of them.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios
It adds to the mandatory options for a Tau army.
A normal Tau army MUST take one unit of Fire Warriors and one Broadside commander(Farsight counts for this)
Farsight adds another restriction that you MUST take at least one unit of Crisis Suits.
