Subject: Dark Eldar and Necron Co-Op Army List

Howdy DakkaDakka, first post and am looking for some advice on a co-op army list me and my friend are creating for a 2v2 tournament coming up in February. Now before anyone rages too hard about the allies list, this a two versus two tournament where the allies list has kind of been thrown out of the window for the hopes of fun. So my friend has settled on buying a Necron army and I myself will be handling the Dark Eldar (Sucker for punishment that I am). He has played Orks and I have experience with both Eldar and Imperial Guard. Now my dilemma also came with points. I always had fifty or so points left and so I tried moving things around, replacing units, etc. I originally had two Venoms but lacked a squad to fill the second. Then I replaced the Hellions with a Scourge Squad and still had 30-50 points left. Was driving me crazy so eventually went with two Hellion Squads and unreasonably upgraded Raiders. I feel as if I should switch things around somehow and take a five man squad of Wracks in a Venom instead of say... Two squads of Hellions who will have a hard time keeping up with the Incubi and Archon in their venom. That is their main purpose as would be the wracks, both squads jumping out of Venoms to presumably assault something valuable, and having the unit that WASN'T Incubi+Archon chewing up the overwatch. Thoughts? I felt I packed enough for every situation and considering the Necron have their amazing glancing capability, I felt we were fine. However any and all feedback is appreciated, thanks! The way the 2v2 works is we both take 1,000 points and share a Force Organization Chart (Within certain limits) to form a 2,000 point army. We split Fast Attack, Heavy Support, and Elite choices and we both require at least 2 Troops and an HQ each. My friend playing Necrons isn't so much looking for feedback but I'll happily pass on anything that helps. Mostly it's the Dark Eldar I worry about, the infamous glass hammer race. Here we go. Necron - 985 Trazyn - 175 Points Lychguard - 200 Points (Base squad) Hyperphase Swords and Dispersion Shields[/i] Necron Immortals - 95 Points (Base squad) Necron Immortals - 95 Points (Base Squad) Tesla Carbines Destroyer - 40 Points Monolith - 200 Points Two Night Scythes - 200 Points Dark Eldar - 998 Points Archon - 145 Points Huskblade, Shadow Field, Ghostplate Armor, Combat Drugs, and Haywire Grenades Incubi - 148 Points (Four of them, so the Archon can ride comfy with them in the Venom) Klaivex, Demiklaive, Murderous Assault, Onslaught Two Kabalite Warriors Squads (Full ten man squads) - 280 Points One Blaster, Splinter Cannon, and Sybarite with Blast Pistol per Squad Two Raiders - 180 Points Night Shields, Splinter Racks, Shock Prows Wych Squad (Five strong)- 100 Points Hydra Gauntlets, Agoniser, Hekatrix, All have Haywire Grenades Two Venoms Venom - 150 Points Splinter Cannons and Night Shields

only problem with helions, is that they will get shot to pieces.
Swap them for either some wyches or bloodbrides in a raider (this umit can get in combat turn one) and if you have points (which i doubt) get a haemy for them. You could also takeo out some of the upgrades on the raiders to improve the wyches and their raider

Would a 5 Woman squad of Bloodbrides in a Venom be worth taking? I can easily drop some of the upgrades on the Raiders, since that was simply to eat up the last 30-40 points on my list. Especially if I drop half or all the Hellions. I only like them due to the fact they have a Stunclaw, which seems like all sorts of fun to use.
Or is a full ten of Wyches in a Raider preferable? Call me a sucker for Dakka but the 12 poisoned shots a turn by Venoms is really attractive to me. But if those are my only two assault squads, what do you think would be best? Since it's a 2-man tourney happening in Spring, I'm assuming most folks will be going Space Marines, Necrons, Chaos, or Dark Angels (If they are out by then), oh and Grey Knights of course.

i too prefer the billions of shots you can have from venoms... but that only works if you have 2 squads of 5 (they can only overwatch one of them) i would recommend going for a 9 or 10 man (well, woman) squad in a raider... if you have the points a haemy would be awesome, but then you would have 2 hq wouldnt you? you could replace the archon with 2 haemies, and then have both of your combat units start with fnp, but that again is personal preference. I would keep the splinter racks on the raiders though (re-rolls are awesome ) EDIT: why am I USA? England all the way man... Automatically Appended Next Post: also... your necron friend has night scythes... I dont know about them, never come across them, but he should definately try to fit in at least 1 doom scythe ( lol that unit is dead... and that one... and that one )

Updated the list Followed Nickick's advice on the Hellion squads and instead switched them out with a suicide squad of Wyches, albeit a small one. I would've preferred a 5-man squad of Wracks, but my Necron partner would be remiss without his Lychguard. They're my utility squad, with a Venom to keep up with the Archon and his Incubi, with plenty of attacks and an agoniser, they're there in the hopes they survive Overwatch so my Archon and Incubi can then rush in unmolested by pesky shots. If not that, they are equipped with Haywire Grenades to be let loose on whatever vehicles are hiding in the back. Thoughts?

How about scourges with a haywire rifle, with cover saves being as awesome as they are jump infantry seems very viable.
Also get your archon a soul trap, that stuff is awesome

I tried factoring in Scourges but couldn't make them fit quite right. I love the model though and I love their weapons, I can still give it consideration. I know with Haywire blasters and 6th Edition glancing rules they're an all new sort of pain for those who play against them and run Mechanized armies. But how about Reavers? I crunched some numbers and.. If I dropped the Wych Squad entirely and their Venom, I could instead get... Reavers (6-man Squad) - 172 Points Two Heat Lances, Arena Champion Thoughts as not only a tank-hunting unit but as a precursor to the Incubi/Archon assault? I figure with added toughness and the Jink rule it might work better than Wyches, and again Heat Lances for versatility. I'll start taking a look at the Scourges as well, see if I can't rework the numbers again, but this last unit I'm trying to squeeze in is mainly so that my Incubi and Archon can get their jollies without being filled full of holes first. And on a last note, Reavers makes me break even, which makes me unbelievably happy. It's like army-lists are a puzzle and breaking even is completing it.

I feel the same way when I do that, it makes me feel like this was the army that GW planned for all along, I'd say yes to reavers for jink saves, flexibility, vector strikes and that lovely late game turbo for the contesting objective

Well first off welcome!
Your list looks pretty solid, but I do see a lot of unnecessary upgrades.
Archon: drop the ghostplate armour since you have a shadow field and then get a soul-trap
incubi: drop the klaviex including the demiklaves, murderous assault, and onslaught
kabalites: drop the blasters, sybarites, and blast pistols.
wyches: drop the hekatix w/ agoniser and hydra gauntlets.
venoms: drop the NS since they are carrying assault units they wont be much of a help save maybe the first turn.
If my math is correct this will free you up 200pts, which you could use to get another kabal gunboat or a squad of reavers or a squad of blasterborn in a venom, etc. Hope this helped and best of luck!

Reavers is... an amazing idea!!! I have genuinely never thought of that before!!! That is just... WOW not so sure about the heat lances, but you may have a point there too... cant remember, but can reavers take blasters? If they can, they are much better than heat lances (you have to get within 9" to use em properly - by then you should already have hurt the tanks alot so...)
