Hello Dakka

Today I got my Birthday present of Dark Vengeance and to my surprise I got the limited edition one. It is November and it came out months ago. How many stores do you know that still have the limited edition.

I know the two closest stores in my area still have them. A lot of people went with the standard edition since the limited edition is only different because it has the Chaplain model, yet was a wee bit more expensive. Additionally, it isn't moving as well as Black Reach is because despite the amazing model quality, a lot of players with their own chapters are offput by the DA imagery all over the SM, and the chaos half is only really worth it for the cultists.

I'll agree the chaos side isn't really good rulewise, but damn those chosens look good. I had to make an specific list just to be able to field them as they come (axes/LC/PF), but it was worth it, taking them out at 2000 points with abaddon is pretty good. Working on converting the chosen champ to a dark apostle becuase... AP4 power weapon? for my duels? no thx.

I preordered the limited edition, $7 extra isn't so bad for an independent character.

I've seen them all over the place locally. The word "limited" really doesn't have much meaning unless you have an idea of how many we're produced in relation to the nonlimited ones and total demand: which is info that gw will never willingly give out.

I picked one up simply because it was only 7 more for another model. As far as the contents, it was the only way to get cultists and a hellbrute while the chosen models are just beautiful; and the mini rule book. However, I'm not terribly impressed with the marine models as I already had 20 terminators, 30 bikes and plenty of tac marines and the iconography will be hard to scrape off. They are still waiting for paint. I might go ahead and do them as a dark Angels group; but I really have no plans on getting the DA codex, regardless of how "op" it might turn out to be.

I thought the limited edition was sold out? Anyways, for $8 more it was well worth it for the awesome interrogator chappy!

I think it is a little off-putting for some people because there's too much DA stufff on the minis to let people play them as something else.

I bought the limited edition at a retailer a little over a month ago.

Pretty sure my local GW still has one or two.

I'd have to look, but the Chaplain model really doesn't do it for me. I suppose a on foot not-cassius would be cool, but...

This is kinda why I was initially skeptical that the boxed set would be Dark Angels.

It doesn't take a marketing genius to recognize why AOBR sold so well. Lots of generic Marines that work for any Space Marine army.

Of course, there is very easily the idea that Games Workshop intentionally designed Dark Vengeance this way so that it didn't sell as well as AOBR. This makes some sense from the perspective that AOBR was a waste of resources, with the extras like dice, and rulebooks, templates, etc, being discarded. After all, this way you only have the need for one Dark Vengeance unless you're playing Dark Angels, and not a half dozen of them. GW, in theory, sells more of their higher priced model sets to the actual target market for sets like Dark Vengeance, which is new players.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

Statistically against 2+, 4+, 5+, 6+ and no saves at all, the Power Maul is the best Power Weapon.

What I don't like is that our store is trying to sell Dark Vengeance to BA players instead of the Battleforce, their excuse is because all those symbols are oh so similar to the BA one. WTF?

It's been a few weeks but the three stores in my area that have DV still have the limited version.

The retailer here never got the limited edition, just the regular one. I'm surprised that boxes of the limited edition are still available from GW. We thought it was sold out shortly after the release.

I bought DV in October from the only GW store in the area, and it was limited edition as well.
