Hello guys, sorry if this is the wrong forum.

My question is that if I have all my sergeants naked (bolter, bolt pistol, and grenades only), and model them with dual combat knives, which no longer have rules, is this still acceptable in tournaments? I have heard that WYSIWYG applies to purchased wargear, but for standard wargear (usually bolt pistols and grenades), it is not necessary to model them and it is assumed they are present because they are standard. Does the same apply to the bolter rifle?

What if I wish to model a naked sergeant with two bolt pistols? This is an illegal combination, as the only way to get two pistols on a sergeant in 6th edition is to replace the bolter with a plasma pistol or play BA with Infernus pistols. However, this one I'm pretty wary about, because it can confuse people into thinking that one of the pistols is indeed a plasma pistol, it can confuse people unfamiliar with C:SM and they will think you are indeed gunslinging with two bolt pistols or gain +1A, and because unlike combat knives, bolt pistols are still an actual wargear entry.

Does anyone have any insight on these two scenarios and how they would go down in a tournament? Thanks.

Two combat blades or a blade and a pistol DO have rules in game, so it would not be wysiwyg to have a model with two Ccws when they otherwise don't have them. You answered your own question about the pistols.

I thought they removed the rules for combat blades in 3rd edition?

not sure when they removed combat blades, but a knife or blade as you call it is still a close combat weapon, just like a pistol... you having a knife in each hand insinuates that that models gets an extra attack for having two close combat weapons, even though on your list he is really armed with a bolter and a pistol

Wasn't WYSIWYG excluded from the rulebook in this edition? just like it is on fantasy. (With the exception of power/force weapons which make you look at which one is the model carrying)

it's not in the rulebook correct. That said though most tournaments still have it set.

Id say just about all tournaments now a days have that rule... either way, if its just your typical tactical marine in a squad of marines nobody would really care, but since sergeants are classified as characters and have to adhere to things like look out sir and challanges, it would be best to model them as you plan to run them in your game list
